"One thing you’ll notice about the pre-season: Almost anytime you ask a coach, “Hey, how does Ronald Powell (or anyone else) look during camp?” they’re going to tell you he looks great, did a lot of work in the off-season, goes harddddddddffffgggg… Sorry fell asleep there for a second.
Usually they talk about whoever we ask about, so the media steers the pre-season conversation at times. However, it is interesting to note which names get mentioned when coaches and players are asked open-ended questions or simply start spouting opinions on their own.
For example, we ask all day about Powell and they answer. But when given an open question, they’ll rave about Duke Lemmens and Justin Trattou. Lemmens and Trattou will start on opening day.
Here’s one name that comes up regularly, whether you ask or not: Quinton Dunbar."
