Well, it wasn't JD's performance when healthy that carried us to those wins: We recall all too well how the offense all to often FAILED to come through, win or lose, with him or without him the last coupla seasons. Not exactly news that it has been the D that's been our strength; just a "halfway decent" offense obviously might have meant at least a winning record last year (and possibly another national champ the season before). That D will start out a little wild, rough but all kinds of upside starting 2014--and could well be scary-good by mid-season. Never mind "the potential Jeff Driskel" we hoped to see when recruited...at this point we need him to be at the very least a composed and competent field leader (something we've seen, but nowhere near often enough, nor for any sustained period, in his play here thus far) who takes what opponents give him, jumps on opportunities to take the downfield shot and doesn't overthrow the open guy when the time comes. Yeah, he needs some tools elsewhere on the field, 2 or 3 guys minimum blossoming in the new offense's passing game, but for now it's not "carrying the team" but simply running this offense in an efficient manner that he needs to be aiming for. Way I see it, anything more than that'll be pure gravy.
