This is a good summation but what do you think? Will we go undefeated?
Repeating as a champion is one of the most difficult challenges in all of sports. The NFL has produced only one repeat Super Bowl winner over the last fifteen years. No Major League baseball team has won consecutive World Series titles over the last eight seasons.
Of course, there are exceptions to the rule. The Florida Gators were able to defend their 2006 NCAA hoops championship in 2007. Now, the football squad will try to match the basketball program in 2009. They have been here before.
The Gators have a chance to build some early confidence for some of their untested players in early September. Home games against Charleston Southern and Troy will enable Florida to get their feet on the ground before the SEC opener against Tennessee on September 19th in Gainesville. While the Vols are a bitter rival, the Tennessee program has slipped down a notch or two over the last five or six years. Even with new head coach Lane Kiffin boosting the school's recruiting and stirring the pot, the Vols are unlikely to pose much of a threat in 2009.
On September 26th, the Gators will head to Lexington to face Kentucky. While the bluegrass faithful will be eager to see the Wildcats end their 22-game losing streak to the Gators, Kentucky will continue their tradition of having more talent on the hardwood than the gridiron in 2009. The next game for the Gators will be their biggest challenge of the year.
In a battle of the last three BCS champions, Florida will head to "Death Valley" to face the LSU Tigers on October 10th. While Florida will have an open date to prepare for this showdown, the Tigers have to travel to Georgia to face the Bulldogs on October 3rd. So, the Gators catch a little bit of a break in their preparation for the biggest game of the season.
The final seven games aren't overwhelming. On Halloween, the Gators will make the short trip to Jacksonville to face Georgia. The Bulldogs have been snakebit in this fierce rivalry over the last two decades. With the early departures of quarterback Matthew Stafford and running back Knowshon Moreno, Georgia will be hard pressed to trade scores with Tebow and the Gators this time around.

I think the Gators have a good chance of going undefeated though LSU and Miss St. could be upsets. Once again could.

The Gators have more than a good chance to go undefeated. I cast my vote in the poll accordingly. Seems like it would be unanimous. There can't be any good arguments to the contrary yet.

The right elements are in place for us to have an undefeated 2009-10 season; our guys are the ones who need to make things happen.
