A few days after losing Matt Herring to the San Antonio Spurs, Florida has hired a new strength and conditioning coach.
Preston Greene, formerly of Clemson, was named UF’s strength and conditioning coach on Tuesday. Greene, a 1999 Clemson graduate, returned to his alma matter as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for men’s basketball from 2009-11.
Greene also has served as a strength and conditioning coach for men’s basketball programs at Charlotte (2003-08) and Stanford (2008-09).
Other notes:
– 2012 small forward prospect Jake Layman has listed Florida in his final five choices, with Maryland, Syracuse, Wake Forest and Lousville. Layman, a 6-foot-8, 190-pound wing from Wrentham, Mass., is the 54th ranked prospect in the nation according to ESPNUs top 100.
