Florida Gators Win 2010 Sugar Bowl

The Florida Gators absolutely crushed the Cincinnati Bearcats in the 2010 SugarBowl tonight. What a way to end the season - a 51 to 24 victory over the no. 3 team in the country. In what was hyped as Tim Tebow's final game as a Florida Gators and possibly Urban Meyer's final game as head coach, it ended up being about the entire team. Every Gator player who stepped on the field contributed to the win, from the o-line to the linebackers to the kicker. What an amazing game - the best I've seen them play all year.

One thing that stoof out to me is that for the first time all year it looked like the players were having fun out there. The pressure was off. They could go out there and just play the game - and boy did they. Tim Tebow set a new record for most toal yards in a BCS game with 532 total yards - 482 in the air and 51 on the ground. Tim also complied 3 passing touchdowns and 1 rushing touchdown. He certainly gave Gator fans a show tonight.

The Gator Defense also played extremely well tonight. They gave up some late points, but held Cincinnati to only 3 points in the first half. Quarterback Tony Pike looked like a freshman and averaged only 3.8 yards per completion. The Gators held the Bearcats to 170 yards passing and 76 yards rushing. You could certainly tell having Carlos Dunlap back on the field made a big difference. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but we must have sacked Pike 8 times. I loved seeing our d-line get pressure. And how about the defensive backs breaking up plays and the linebackers laying nasty hits on the Bearcats.

The play of the game has to be Tebow's 80 yard touchdown pass to Riley Cooper at the end of the 2nd quarter. That pretty much put the nail in the coffin for the Bearcats. Cooper led the team in receiving with 181 yards, followed by Aaron Hernandez who had 9 receptions for 111 yards.

All in all it was a great game. Very exciting! I'm glad we went out with such an awesome performance- it will certainly give Gator fans a good feeling heading into 2010.
