The USA Today Top 25 coaches preseason poll was recently announced with the Florida Gators opening the 2010 college football season ranked No. 3 in the nation. Are you surprised to see the Gators ranked this high in the coaches poll? I was thinking they'd be more like 6 or 7 - especially after losing so many key impact players on offense and defense.
The Coaches Poll is very important - it makes up 1/3 of the BCS calculation. The No. 3 ranking the Gators received is a testament of the respect that rival coaches have for Urban Meyer and his ability to reload talent on this team. It also shows respect for and puts pressure on new Gator quarterback John Brantley. The whole nation is expecting them to compete for a National Championship.
