I did get some more bits and pieces of both the Demarcus "Flip Flop Saga" and news on a handful of other out-of-state grabs that currently are being counted in OTHER schools' classes but that we are supposedly "real close to picking up", but until there is something more solid to report, I'm more-and-more inclined to leave it alone for now...This all well-demonstrates the crazy, vague and tenuous nature of the whole process, how elusive and strange the forces at work and weird world otherwise tough and pragmatic Coaches must enter and move in if they are to gather a decent recruiting-class together, and then bring it IN. Frankly, just talking about it, without being able to name player or school, feels kind of small, silly and petty, like high school gossip (it's certainly no more substantial at the pre-official stage)--so I can only imagine what it feels like to a tough and dignified adult-Coach. For myself, unless it is something REALLY noteworthy AND somewhat more concrete than these back-channel, "can't give the details yet" situations, I will stick to what I DO know:
It looks to be a good thing we still have some space for more scholarships, we may well fill the bulk of them before this is all done, and in addition to the ones we have and are in the final running for mostly IN-state, there are a number of widely-coveted out-of-state kids who are quietly "moving.."(or have "already moved")"...in our direction", and that these are ALL at "positions of need". All in all, even with just a few of these "last minute probablys", as far as prospects go this class is shaping up as amazing, better than could be hoped for or foreseen.
