Coach Ray Graves and the 1961 Gator Football Team

Thought I would post this video so as to take a break from all the discussions about who our next coach will be.

"The film begins with Ray Graves speaking about the athletic program at the University of Florida. The segment devoted to football is the longest with various coaches being shown doing drills with the members of the football team. The final part of the film details two scrimmages which took place during the spring drills. One took place eleven days after the start of the training and the other is the annual Orange and Blue Game."

This is a film produced by the University of Florida, probably to show to prospective recruits back in 1961. Features three of the past Gator Greats, Larry Libertore, Bob Hoover & Lindy Infante.

No. 83 - LARRY LIBERTORE

Position: Quarterback

Years he played: 1960-62
Top 100 credentials: Libertore weighed only 135 pounds and was known as "Little Larry" Libertore. He was a lot of excitement in a small package. He was a fearless option runner, a solid passer and had a knack for making big plays and befuddling opposing defenses. Even though he finished his career as a starting defensive back in 1962, he ranked as the sixth-leading Gator in total offense with 1,511 yards.
How he shined: Only a sophomore playing in his first game at LSU's Tiger Stadium, Libertore made a criss-crossing 66-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage to lead the Gators to a 13-10 victory over LSU.
Making his mark: Libertore led UF to a school-record nine wins in 1960. He led the team in total offense and punt returns. As a junior, he was named the MVP in the Gators' victory over Baylor in the Gator Bowl.
