Beyond the arc: 3 takeaways from UF’s 81-76 win over Seton Hall

Some observations following Florida’s 81-76 win over Seton Hall:

— Credit Florida’s interior defense for making adjustments during the game. The Gators finished with seven blocked shots and held their own on the boards (outrebounded just 40-38), while keeping Seton Hall center Angel Delgado from being a factor on the glass. Delgado, who came into the game averaging 13.7 rebounds per game, was held to just three rebounds. Florida center John Egbunu had four blocked shots and sophomore center Kevarrius Hayes had a blocked shot that was a momentum-changer during a UF 10-0 second-half run.

— Florida’s 12 turnovers were loud against Seton Hall, as the Gators gave up 23 points off turnovers for the second time in the last three games. Florida also gave up 23 points off turnovers in a 73-66 win over St. Bonaventure. Senior point guard Kasey Hill had almost as many turnovers (five) as points (six) and needs to be steadier.

— Florida senior forward Justin Leon did some little things throughout the game to finish with seven points and seven rebounds. Yes, senior Canyon Barry is a better player, but the dynamic of Leon starting and Barry coming off the bench is working at this point. I wouldn’t tinker with it yet. Barry had 33 minutes to Leon’s 29 minutes, and both played a ton due to Devin Robinson’s foul trouble.
