Beyond the arc: 3 takeaways from UF’s 76-66 loss at Kentucky

Some observations following UF’s 76-66 loss to Kentucky at Rupp Arena:

— Florida hoisted some ill-advised shots on Saturday at Kentucky. Kasey Hill and Devin Robinson went a combined 5 of 23, with some wild drives. For as well at KeVaughn Allen played offensively, even he took some rushed, off-balance shots down the stretch when Florida was trying to make it a two-possession game.

— The backup center-by-committee experiment of Schuyler Rimmer and Keith Stone netted zero points and one rebound in 13 minutes. Florida was minus-6 in Rimmer’s brief two-minute stint on the floor, allowing an early 18-6 lead to get cut in half to 18-12. Florida needs one of the two to step up if the Gators are hopeful to make a deep run into March.

— Florida senior Canyon Barry doesn’t look like himself after last week’s ankle sprain. Barry had three points, one assist, one turnover and one steal in 18 minutes on the floor, going 1 of 5 from the floor and 1 of 4 from 3-point range. The 6-foot-6 Barry is at his best when he’s aggressive and drawing contact, but for the second straight game, he was unable to get to the free-throw line
