Derrick Harvey played under Urban Meyer from 2004-2007, where he sat behind Gator beasts Ray McDonald and Jarvis Moss. When Ray was injured, Derrick stepped up with 11 sacks in 2006, the 5th-best single season mark in Gator history. That year he was 2nd team All-American and an MVP of the 2007 BCS National Championship Game over The Ohio State. Derrick’s final year in Gainesville earned him 2nd-team All-SEC and 3rd-team All-American. Despite only starting half the games he played in, Derrick finished his career 9th in the all-time Gator record books for sacks with 20.5, and 3rd in the TFL category with 51.5.
