Allen Trammell played outfield for the University of Florida baseball team, and was a two-way defensive back and wide receiver from 1963 to 1965. Allen was a walk-on player who called both Eufala, Alabama and Chattanooga, Tennessee home before coming to Gainesville. As a baseball player, he once hit a grand slam and two doubles in one inning for 6 RBI in a 25-1 victory over Kentucky. As a walk-on football player he earned an All-SEC honors as the Gators' leading punt returner in 1964, and Coach Ray Graves rated him as one of the Gators' two best cornerbacks of the 1960s. Trammell was signed by the Houston Oilers in 1966--he is one of thirteen Gator walk-on players to play for the NFL.
