Zook one of 2010's recruiting disappointments

So much for that "master recruiter" moniker pinned on him; Zook's digging himself an even deeper hole:

"Illinois is very much in situation similar to Colorado. Even with dramatic changes on his coaching staff, there still are lingering questions about Ron Zook's future and those questions really hurt the Illini in this year's recruiting wars. Illinois is going to finish outside of the top 60 likely and will finish with its lowest ranking in the Big Ten since 2004. Just like that season, Illinois should finish in the No. 8 spot in the conference, a hard pill to swallow for a program that hasn't had problems attracting talent in the past. Much like Colorado, Illinois' biggest problems stem from not keeping the top players at home. Illinois so far has only landed one player in the top 10 in the state and seeing blue-chip recruits like Kyle Prater, C.J. Fiedorowicz, Matt Milton and others leave the state certainly stings."

they're taking one for the team, so to speak. so other schools don't have to go through the agony they are of having a crappy HC.. [/sarcasm]

If the Zooker has another sub-par season up there at "Illinoise" and once again can't make a bowl, the administration there better listen if the boosters get even louder in calling for Zook's head. Judging by his overall win-loss record and the results of his past two seasons, it's strange why he still has a job there - anybody else would have been fired.

He's making the same mistakes up there that he did down here - he can bring in as many assistants as he wants, but that doesn't change anything.

These kids are no fools. They can see that he won't make the best use of their talent and can't find a way to win on a consistent basis. That's why the blue-chippers flock to the big-name programs and the most successful - it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

Let's face it, Zook isn't cut out to be a head coach - at least not at a BCS-conference school.

*P.S. Illini fans already have their version of FireRonZook up and running (http://fireronzook.wordpress.com/) as well as another site, Give Zook the Hook (http://www.givezookthehook.com/)
