Zachary Carter declares for the NFL

Aerospace Cubicle Engineer (ACE)

Zachary Carter (6'4", 285 lb, 4.88 s 40) has declared for the NFL after appearing in 41 games for the Gators. He leaves Florida with 102 total tackles, 39 solo, with 26 TFL and 17 sacks. He is considered the #4 to #6 3-4 DE in the 2022 NFL Draft, but he has played in both 3-man and 4-man fronts on both the interior and the outside, with some experience as an edge rusher out of both the 3-technique and the 5-technique. Scouts who view his film may be willing to overlook some weaknesses in baseline strength as an interior defensive lineman and may appreciate his versatility and technique across multiple positions on the defensive line. More than likely he will be evaluated as an interior defensive lineman and drafted after DeMarvin Leal (Texas A&M), Jordan Davis (Georgia), and Travon Walker (Georgia). He may get drafted before or after Perrion Winfrey (Oklahoma) and Logan Hall (Houston). If he gets evaluated as a pure edge rusher he would likely be the middle to bottom tier as the #14 pure outside defensive lineman. He will probably get drafted on day two.

He’ll have a decent shot at a pro career, anyway.
Thankyou, Zach! You were a bright spot on an otherwise generally MIS-used squad these last coupla seasons.
