A little background:
1) Canadian student athletes are rarely celebrities on campus
2) I work in Student Housing, and encounter students every day - often because they've broken the rules
3) I never went to a US college, so I just have media-types to believe.
My question:
Are student athletes (such as Gator football players) really the superstars on campus that they've been made out to be in movies and TV? Can they do no wrong? Will professors fudge grades for them? Do they walk around campus knowing that they could do just about anything (except get in trouble with the law) and still suffer no ill effects?
I'm legitimately curious. Any insights?
