Well, I guess we’re ALL IU fans now.
The OTHER “feel good story” of the CFP was eliminated by a Miami last second touchdown just moments ago…
I’m not going to get into any detail into how or why that happened—only that it was mainly the Ol’ Miss defense that let them down repeatedly, then finally for good in the last 3 minutes after their offense had TWICE regained the lead.
And it was directly because practically their whole defensive coaching personnel were now Kiffen’s LSU defensive coaching squad, originally being “allowed” to continue coaching the Rebel D, supposedly “through the playoffs”—except of course they didn’t lose to Georgia as they were expected (SUPPOSED) to do…I guess when they did NOT, Lane couldn’t hold up his “nice guy”/“still my guys” mask any longer—This story needed to END, PRONTO.
And it worked: It made just enough difference. A steadier, more organized, and experienced handling of the defense’s gameplay and gameFLOW would have likely made JUST ENOUGH DIFFERENCE for Ol’ Miss to have come out ahead in that one.
I am now fully OVER ANY disappointment on our having missed out on him for the GATOR Head Coaching position.
He NEVER gets to be a Gator.
Let him further poison LSU Tiger history and reputation, as I am fairly sure he eventually will.
I don’t know if Sumrall will live up to the expectations this early going appears to promise fulfilling, but things are looking up thus far, and I expect at the very LEAST now a FUN RIDE from here.
We never minded being thought of as “those crazy Gator fans”, bleeding orange and blue with our “CHOMP!, ‘We Are The Boys’ and ‘Won’t Back Down’ and all the rest”—but we were always honest, straight UP, “Hang half a hundred on ya” if we could, but do it ON THE FIELD, show it ON THE SCOREBOARD. We didn’t, don’t, WON’T EVER NEED to lie, cheat, or (aside from a smirking wisecrack or two) try to gain some non-football advantage.
We just wanna be good enough to match up and BEAT YOU ON THE FIELD, AT GAMETIME!
