Most Lopsided Gator Victories

LIU is poised to enter the Swamp as the most overmatched team in the history of Gator football. Billy Napier is not known for running up the score, but there is a possibility that the Gators accidentally run up the score.

Update: Given the weather forecast, the Gators might play a conservative game in the rain.

Without further ado, here are the worst beat downs at the hands of the Gators.
1. 1913 vs. Florida Southern: 144–0 (+114)
2. 1997 vs. Central Michigan: 82–6 (+76)
3. 1994 vs. Kentucky: 73–7 (+66)
4-T. 1996 vs. Kentucky: 65–0 (+65)
4-T. 2014 vs. Eastern Michigan: 65–0 (+65)
4-T. 1995 vs. Vanderbilt: 65–0 (+65)
5-T. 2003 vs. San Jose State: 65–3 (+62)
5-T. 2006 vs. Western Carolina: 62–0 (+62)
6. 2020 vs. Vanderbilt: 56–0 (+56)
7. 2001 vs. New Mexico State: 62–10 (+52)
8-T. 1928 vs. Mercer: 51–0 (+51)
8-T. 2008 vs. Citadel: 70–19 (+51)
9. 2007 vs. Western Kentucky: 49–3 (+46)
10. 1995 vs. Northern Illinois: 58–13 (+45)

Yeah--the weather looks to make this a sloppy, conservative "show little and come out healthy" kind of drudgery...
Meanwhile, I assume most of us are watching this Thursday "early game", where our NEXT week's opponent is by now embarrassing a ranked and favored Boise St. team down in Tampa.
I had some concerns that we might look PAST this Bulls squad...This was ALWAYS gonna be their "Big Game", for all kinds of reasons y'all are as aware of as I am, but NOW they will come in believing they are on athe kind of roll that makes this WINNABLE for them.
From the moment I first saw and considered this 2025 schedule, I figured that though they might play us tough early, we would pull away as the game went on. They came into this season with that "up tempo, hurry up" offense designed to limit your substitutions, dictate the opponents' game flow and tire them out. But whereas last year their defense was ranked practically at the very bottom of CFB, multi-season experience plus some timely portal additions have clearly, by tonight's evidence, shown marked improvements overall there.
Lotta Florida kids are over there now who played with or against a number of ours, but were rated behind many of those who made our team. You doubt they have had this one circled for MONTHS?
All I'm saying is we damn well better buckle down, focus, and take this Bulls team and game VERY seriously after all. Whereas the LIU Sharks can do little more than MAYBE stay with us for part of a quarter, regardless of the conditions, this Bulls squad is nowhere NEAR that kind of "gimme".
We should beat them by a decent amount--but it will require us coming out and playing OUR game, executing an actual game plan throughout the first half and a good portion of at least the third quarter I suspect before we'll have a chance to substitute freely. And even THAT assumes our playing smart and mainly mistake-free: ANY descent into accumulated sloppy errors like this Gator team has tended to display in early season games thus far during the Napier era could get us into the kind of disappointing bind that Boise State eventually got themselves into tonight as the game wore on.
I am not saying it WILL happen; only that it COULD. We are a more talented team than the Broncos. The key for us now is whether we are indeed better prepared, conditioned and/or COACHED--above all, "ARE WE READY?", for this whole SEASON??!

"Woulda/shoulda/coulda" been more like at least a 64-0 one had Smack been in better form.
Still, they got the shut out, shook off some rust and came out of it healthy, far as we know at this point.
Not much more to be said about it but to turn the page and (above all TEAM) attention to USF.
One more comment regarding Week One before we move on:
That was a weird one all around...All those (supposed) "Top 10 Match Ups" there in the "big games" and practically everywhere ELSE producing unexpected outcomes and performances.
No reason to expect tonight's ND at Miami contest to be any different.
So far another sloppy, 0-0 defensive struggle late in the first quarter, "sloppiness" was much the weekend's theme up to now. Not surprising in Week One, I suppose, but it seemed somewhat more "in extremis" this year--and I wonder if the whole transfer portal-producing team-turnover effect, plus a certain distracted focus on individuals' efforts to "Let's Make A Deal" in this NIL, pay-for-play world that is today's college football hasn't affected general preseason team focus and preparation too.
Just a thought, but one that leaves me less certain than ever as to what to expect in the weeks ahead--from our team and/or anyone ELSE. ALL of which leaves things wide open, an opportunity perhaps for someone "new" (as opposed to "the usual cast of favorites") to get on a run and ultimately take the ultimate prize.
Admittedly way early to nominate US, obviously, but the way may lie open.
I'll get back to y'all bout that.

There was a 144-0 game? Seems like the only game I hear is GA Tech against Cumberland.
Sports history is fun! That score is #8 on the all-time list. The only schools in the top 10 that are still relevant are Georgia Tech, Arizona, Bowling Green, and Florida. Back in the day there were no conferences and some games were not against universities.
  1. Georgia Tech 222, Cumberland 0 (1916)
  2. King (TN) 206, Lenoir 0 (1922)
  3. Albion 178, Detroit NTS 0 (1919)
  4. Arizona 167, Camp Harry J. Jones 0 (1920)
  5. Christian Brothers (MO) 165, Marvin (MO) 0 (1915)
  6. Central Oklahoma 157, Oklahoma Baptist 0 (1919)
  7. Bowling Green 151, Findlay 0 (1921)
  8. Florida 144, Florida Southern 0 (1913)
  9. Princeton 140, Lafayette 0 (1884)
  10. Bluefield 129, Morristown 0 (1928)
