Jiwan James commits

VIP Member
Gainesville Sun is reporting Williston senior Jiwan James is commiting to UF. He's one of the best baseball players in the area.

"James has played quarterback, wide receiver and safety for the Red Devil football team. He was a Florida All-State team member as a shooting guard for the basketball team, and is one of the highest rated baseball recruits in the nation.

On Wednesday, in front of a room filled with family and friends, James finalized his recruiting process by signing a national letter of intent to play baseball for the University of Florida. James received a phone call from Gator baseball coach Pat McMahon, who congratulated him on signing his "first official autograph as a Gator."

James, a top prospect as a pitcher and outfielder, says he's not sure where McMahon plans to play him. Williston coach Jim Smith, who has worked with James since he was a bat boy 11 years ago, thinks he can play both positions.

"He'll play both spots," Smith said. "That's what the plan is right now."
