I think there will be a 30 for 30 on Meyer's Gators

I believe it's not a question of if but a question on when. It's bad enough with boneheads on the team (well formerly on the team recently). Now, we have to deal with a bonehead from one of the Championship Teams again.

I hate to admit it, but it is only a matter of time until it happens. One of the Orlando publications seems to revel in maintaining its list of Florida Gators arrested since Urban Meyer took over. Here is a snapshot of that list (crimes committed on campus unless otherwise noted):
  • Chris Rainey - felony stalking
  • Solomon Patton - misdemeanor possession of alcohol under age 21
  • Matt Elam - misdemeanor possession of alcohol under age 21
  • Frankie Hammond - DUI with probation
  • Gary Brown - misdemeanor battery
  • Carlos Dunlap - DUI with probation and community service
  • Janoris Jenkins - misdemeanor "affray" and resisting arrest without violence
  • Marquis Hannah - felony burglary and misdemeanor battery
  • Carl Johnson - misdemeanor violation of restraining order (due to claim of date rape)
  • Riley Cooper - misdemeanor resisting arrest
  • Cam Newton - felony counts of burglary, larceny, and obstruction of justice
  • Jacques Rickerson - misdemeanor possession of marijuana & domestic violence by strangulation
  • Torrey Davis - misdemeanor driving without a license
  • Jamar Hornsby - misdemeanor property damage, criminal mischief, and felony unauthorized use of credit card
  • Jermaine Cunningham - misdemeanor battery
  • Tony Joiner - felony theft. Years after leaving the team: accused of murder.
  • Ronnie Wilson - felony aggravated assault and display of concealed weapon, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, assault and battery (charges dismissed)
  • Dustin Doe - misdemeanor affray and resisting arrest, misdemeanor driving with suspended license
  • Dorian Munroe - felony theft
  • John Curtis - misdemeanor violation of probation (violating community service requirements stemming from alcohol citation)
  • Brandon James - felony possession of marijuana
  • Avery Atkins - misdemeanor domestic battery. Later transferred to Bethune Cookman, got in legal trouble, and died of drug overdose.\
  • Louis Murphy - misdemeanor possession of marijuana
  • Jon Demps - misdemeanor driving with suspended license
  • Dawayne Grace - misdemeanor battery and petty theft, misdemeanor violation of city ordnance
  • Aaron Hernandez - deferred prosecution for felony battery, no charges for participation in homicide until after leaving UF. Felony double homicide, possession of firearms and marijuana, misdemeanor DUI, felony homicide, and felony homicide/ first-degree murder.
Note that Aaron Hernandez and Tony Joiner were convicted of felony homicide/ murder after leaving UF, but they had some legal troubles on campus as well.

This follows the same path as The U, Southern Cal, and to some extent SMU (the football programs that 30 for 30 did stories on) though of course there are differences. Ironically the Gators followed The U and later Univ. of Southern Cal as the best Football program at the time. Heck, they can do it on the mid-1980s team that was screwed over by the NCAA, SEC.
