The Florida Gators men's basketball team is in a bit of a slump lately. Though the were able to hold off a late rally by the Washington Huskies last night to win the consolation bracket of the CBE Classic, they still didn't play well. They've shot 8-of-39 from 3-point range the previous two games and have been outrebounded in both games.

The AP did an excellent job describing how the final minute went down:

After trailing by 10 points with just under 5 minutes left, the Huskies chipped away, tying it at 81-all on two free throws by Jon Brockman with 1:23 left. Senior guard Walter Hodge followed with a 3-pointer from the corner to put Florida up by 3, then Isaiah Thomas hit two free throws with 50 seconds left.

Calathes and freshman forward Allan Chaney each hit 1 of 2 free throws to put the Gators up 86-83, and Washington couldn't get the rebound when Thomas purposely missed his second free throw after making the first with 2.5 seconds left.

Nick Calathes led the Gators in scoring with 21 points (8 assists), followed by Chaney, Werner, Hodge and Walker who all scored in double digits.

The Gators need to get Kenny Kadji more playing time. 11 minutes isn't enough. He's the future big man of the team and will help control the rebounds. Billy Ball is fun, but the Gators need a stronger low post presence.

Next up is Missouri-Kansas City on November 30.
