Gators Beat Florida Gulf Coast 94-60

The Florida Gators had too much talent for Florida Gulf Coast to compete with. The Gators, led by Alex Tyus and Walter Hodge, improved to 7-2 on the season, and 21-0 against teams from the Atlantic Sun Conference under coach Billy Donovan.

I watched this game for the first half and must say that I didn't think the Gators would have blown out the Eagles. This game was pretty darn close in the first half. A turnover and some bad fouls by the Eagles allowed the Gators to quickly move up 37-29 just before halftime. Billy Donovan must have coached them up in the lockeroom at the half because the Gators came out firing in the 2nd half.

Tyus and Hodge both ended the game with 19 points. Calathes, who didn't start the game, did play 30 minutes and had 7 points - 9 assists. The Gators wanted to get Kenny Kadji more involved in this game. He played 20 minutes but was only able to score 6 points. He looked goofy out there at times. For a guy who dominated at the previous level, he sure is having trouble adjusting to the college game.

The Gators are off now for 10 days (it's finals week coming up at UF) until they play UCF in Jacksonville on December 20.
