Gator fans get so caught up in the two big sports: football and basketball, that we sometimes forget about our other sports. We want all our sports teams to go out there and win SEC Championships.
Did you you tennis has already started? I should have wrote a post about it when the season kicked off, but I guess I was too caught up in basketball. Both the men's and women's tennis team are off to a great start.
The seventh-ranked University of Florida men’s team (5-1) will continue its tour of Illinois as the Gators depart Urbana and arrive in Chicago for the 2009 ITA National Men's Team Indoor Championships on Feb. 13-16. The Gators will kick off the round of 16 on Friday at 1 p.m. ET against No. 11 Stanford (3-0).
The No. 10 University of Florida women's tennis team open the 2009 ITA National Women’s Team Indoor Championships on Friday against No. 3 UCLA in the Round of 16 at 4:30 p.m. ET (3:30 CT) in Madison, Wisc.
The NCAA has to hold the men's and women's events at different locations because there aren't enough courts to accommodate two tournaments. The Lady Gators have a tough draw against No. 3 UCLA, if they can pull an upset it will surely move them up the national rankings. Neither team is the favorite to win it all, but I think our tennis teams are strong enough to advance to the Finals.
