On January 8, 2009, Florida Gator fans will cheer on their football team as the Gators go for their 3rd national championship. The No. 2 Gators will play the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners in Miami, Florida. The game will be televised live on Fox. It's hard to imagine that this will mark the first time in history these two teams will play.

The Sooners have a scary-good offense. They've put up 60+ points in their last five games and Sam Bradford (the 2008 Heisman winner) will give the Gator Defense a true test. But don't get too discourage, remember two years ago when the Gators last played a Heisman-winning quarterback? What the Gators will quickly discover is if the Sooners offense is that good, or if the defenses in the Big 12 are just that bad.

For the Gators to win the game, they'll need to score early and keep pressure on Bradford. Watching some highlights of the Sooners, their offensive line gives him ALL DAY to throw the ball. He won't get that kind of time against Florida. A couple a sacks and pressures will force him to make mistakes.

The Gators also need big games from their playmakers, Tim Tebow and Percy Harvin (Percy was listed as probable... but he'll play). "I've had some great players, and I've got some great players on this team," Florida coach Urban Meyer said. "But I've never had one like this. Tim's got something special inside him. I'm not talking about throwing. I'm not talking about running. I'm talking about making everyone around him better."

Despite being ranked No. 2, Vegas has the Florida Gators as 3-pt favorites. This is likely due to the game being in Miami and we're hoping for a huge home-field advantage.

"I hope it's a home-field advantage," Meyer said. "I'd be disappointed if it wasn't a tremendous showing (by Gators fans), but I know Oklahoma has a great tradition of traveling fans as well. In the back of our minds, even in the front of some of our minds, this was our target to get to Miami -- because it's our home state, because of recruiting, because of all of the above."

My score prediction is 42-21 Gators. What's yours? <a href="http://www.gatorenvy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8076">Tell us an win a Gator Rally Face</a>!
