The Board of Governors has approved Dr. Ben Sasse as the University of Florida's 13th president. He will assume office in February after 117th Congress ends and he moves his family from Nebraska. Dr. Sasse succeeds Dr. Kent Fuchs, who has stepped down to focus on teaching in the department of electrical and computer engineering. Dr. Sasse is coming to Gainesville after serving eight years as a Nebraska senator. In addition to decades of experience in state and federal politics, Sasse also has extensive experience in education. He was the 15th president of Midland University (then called Midland Lutheran College) and he taught at the University of Texas.
