#76 Marcus Gilbert played for coach Urban Meyer‘s Florida Gators from 2006 to 2010. As a true freshman on the 2006 BCS National Championship team, he played well in the shutout of UCF and victory over Southern Miss. Throughout his sophomore season he played in 13 of 14 games, sometimes starting at right guard in place of the injured Maurkice Pouncey. During the Gators 2008 BCS National Championship season, Gilbert started two games at left guard and several other games on special teams in addition to his typical position at right guard. He started in all 14 games for the Gators at right tackle in 2009, and earned SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week honors for his performance against Kentucky on September 26. He was fourth-team All-SEC in his redshirt junior season. In 2010, Gilbert started in all 13 games playing both tackle positions and was third-team All-SEC. During his college career, he appeared in fifty-two games and started thirty of them. Marcus was the 31st pick of round 2 of the 2011 NFL Draft for the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he was reunited with fellow Gator lineman, Maurkice Pouncey.

Marcus was the Pittsburgh Steelers Rookie of the Year in 2011, and has played well until injuries began taking a toll in 2016. He was traded to the Arizona Cardinals in 2019.
