Report: Former Gators HC Urban Meyer "Expects To Land" With Jaguars - Sports Illustrated Florida Gators News, Analysis and More
It would be odd if that happened.

Yeah yeah yeah...The Meyer we know so well:
Yeah yeah yeah...The Meyer we know so well:
“I’m SICK! I’m SICK! I’m SICK!!!”
(...just gimme what I want:
In this case, big money, guarantee buy out, and no interference—from fans, boosters OR “management”: the last the only one who has true direct potential power over him in the pros. But if you want Urban, this is what he requires, just to listen now it seems).
GEE. Big surprise, that.
This guy is emblematic of our times:
You can always tell when he’s lying:
His LIPS are moving.
Yes! I was thinking the exact same thing—but HE wants the money AND a CROWN (or at least the corporate equivalent: The power of contractual “FUCK YOU-POWER”!)I read an article somewhere he demanded 12 million a year. Unsure if just a rumor or........... Jon Gruden returned to the Raiders for 10 million. If he wanted that money, Meyer should have got to Texas where he would have gotten it and then some.
It's official

Honestly I think it's a wrong decision for both sides. Yes, the owner probably thinks that hiring a former Gator Coach will help ticket sales. Honestly, I don't know how many Gator fans are still bitter at Meyer. I know I am and I'm sure you guys aren't too far behind.
Mmmmmm...Do you really think so?I think it is the perfect move by Urban Meyer. He is more of a CEO type coach than an Xs and Os coach. All things being equal, in the NFL it is the CEO coach that has a better chance of success; whereas in college it is the Xs and Os coaches or guidance counselor types that succeed. The Jaguars are the perfect team to start an NFL coaching career, because there is no expectation to win. The team is 177-239 (42.5%) all time, and is 7-7 in the post-season. They are the 25th-ranked team in terms of valuation at $2.45B, $443M revenue, and $99M operating income. For comparison, the Florida Gators are the 9th-ranked team in terms of revenue at $117M revenue and $69M of profit/operating income. Note: Florida actually pulls in more profit than Alabama, but Alabama earns more revenue.
This is also a good move by Urban to gain favor with the Gator Nation. Most of the boosters who would be financing Urban's enshrinement in the Gator Ring of Honor are supportive of Urban. My theory is that they were waiting for signs that Urban would not coach at a rival college team before finalizing his enshrinement. It is mostly us fans who are bitter about Urban Meyer, and our vote does not matter. The Ring of Honor committee will wait for the right time and enshrine Urbs. Meyer coaching an NFL team only hours away from Gainesville and with a strong Gator presence only helps him gain favor with both the RoH committee and the fans.
I see this playing out in a similar manner as the relationship between Bill Belichik and Urban Meyer between 2005 and 2010. In that time frame, the New England Patriots and Florida Gators coaching staffs exchanged plenty of visits and it established a Gator pipeline to the NFL. Jacksonville already has a decent pipeline of Gators, but this should only make that relationship better.
You know where I stand when it comes to Meyer, Lf.It's official

The part about “fans don’t matter” to the boosters?
I mean, I follow your reasoning regarding previous relationships among Meyer, Bellichik and New England, Jacksonville, and other major college programs—and ALL of its’ potential effect on his chances of getting into the “Ring of Honor” anytime soon—but if THAT, of all things, were a major factor in all of this, then don’t you think Gator fans’ continued antipathy (hell, outright bitterness) towards Meyer would be (and still is) a strong negative factor?
Still: He WOULD have opportunity to repair such relationships—provided he is successful in revamping the Jaguars and “returning” them at least to contention (their few forays to the post season have never lasted in consistent fashion) and KEEPING them there...
The degree that would help repair his relationship with the fan base may depend more on the degree to which he IS able to establish that
“G-Ville to J-ville” pipeline you posit.
But don’t forget: You cannot really eliminate the specter of a persistent “Gator-hero’s Spirit” that continues to cast its spell of influence and attitude over all such “extracurricular activities and decisions” emanating from “Gator Central”...
I’m referring of course to Steve Spurrier’s continued presence and importance in such “back room” discussions. Or don’t you think that holds anything more than vestigial weight anymore?
I’d be interested to hear YOUR “take” on all THAT, E—.
We’ve been “talkin’ Gator Football” together a LONG time now here at “GE”, E—: You and I in particular.Fact: our "vote" as fans who sit in our basements in our underwear not attending games or donating $16k/year means absolutely nothing with regards to the Gator Ring of Honor. Zip. Zilch. If you think otherwise, please share whatever you are smoking. We "vote" by sending money to the University of Florida Athletic Association, and I am quite certain that none of us on this forum is a Bull Gator. Heck, I would wager to bet that none of us is a Fighting Gator, Scholarship Partner, Scholarship Club, or Grand Gator.
Opinion: I think the majority of the Gator Nation that does donate to the UFAA is not bitter about Urban Meyer.
...
I look ahead now with an eye towards “Who is/are the likely QB(s)?”
“The likely DBs?”
“OLs?”
“WRs?”
And SO ON???
