The Legend of Kyle Trask

Kyle Trask will leave the University of Florida as the #1 quarterback in multiple categories. His dedication to the Gator program will never be forgotten. Trask declared for the NFL draft where he is projected as the #5 quarterback by Walter Camp after Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, Zach Wilson, and Trey Lance. Trask is described as being a QB with "serious pocket-passing ability for the NFL...[with] very accurate...ball placement, timing, field vision, and decision making...helped by a powerful arm [also] capable of making touch passes." The big marks against him are his lack of mobility, and his propensity to fumble the ball when hit. He has been compared to Joe Flacco in terms of size and playing style. His performance at Pro Day and in the NFL Combine will determine whether he is drafted in round 2, 3 or 4. Although fans may disagree with the decision to play him in the Cotton Bowl, that poor performance should not hurt his draft stock. His performance against LSU likely knocked him out of the Heisman race, but his record-setting performance in 2020 as a whole, along with his performance at Pro Day and NFL Combine will ultimately determine where he starts his NFL career.

As far as his legacy in Hogtown, he will always be a legend. He is the number 1 Gator QB in terms of season passer rating. He set or tied 20 different SEC and UF records. He is the record holder at UF for season passing yards (even in a shortened season), season passing touchdowns, and season passer rating. He is among the top 5 in a dozen FBS, SEC, and UF career accomplishments. Simply put, Kyle Trask is a legend.

I love the kid—am PROUD of him.
Kyle Trask is exactly what continues to exemplify THE BEST of College Football, and a Gator through and through.
I wish there were a way for all of US, “We the FANS of Gator Nation”, to honor him in particular OURSELVES...though after that sour-noted chorus of detractors during and immediately after the Cotton Bowl, Kyle himself is no doubt already “moving on”
...From my P.O.V., however, all the MORE reason I feel a public note of support and heartfelt “Farewell!” may be in order. Not sure if appropriate, what form it might take, or even how to go about it if others agree, but if anyone ELSE DOES AGREE and has a suggestion as to how best to proceed, COUNT ME IN!
He’s been CENTRAL to our success and positive growth and self-image, despite numerous obstacles and setbacks during a rough period this last coupla years, Kyle Trask has been a consistent PLUS week in/week OUT these last coupla seasons. Let’s make sure he at least knows WE’VE noticed!

You got THAT right!
Agreed, 100%!!!
Thanks—as I say, wish there was a way to bring him back (maybe “Senior Day” NEXT SEASON?) to a full Swamp and really give him a big full-throated CHEER once we are able to really DO that, post-“COVID 19”...
Something fully, officially pre-arranged (might have to wait another year, but whenever that is truly, properly DOABLE!!!).
