They're a duo from B-ham (yes more than likely Bama fans) that have skits about the SEC. Three of the last 5 vids had Florida involved. Also, if you see SEC Nation they have skits there as well.
We are definitely back in the spotlight again these days, that’s for sure...
Look at all the late-popping talk about our game against Arkansas tomorrow evening: After being installed as a well-favored pick over the Razorbacks earlier in the week (one that worried only Gator FANS, facing our old QB-1 in The Swamp, concerned about a “let-down” after the “Big Win” LAST Saturday against UGA in Jacksonville), the game had last day or two become the focus of warnings of it “maybe going the other way”, especially if somehow we “aren’t careful”...
“Hey!—we KNOW!” I DOUBT anyone has to remind our players of ANYTHING along those lines at THIS point.
Sure as hell HOPE not, anyway. But let ‘em all mouth off: It can only help us to be awake, aware and READY! As if we NEED any such help now. Long as that damn Hurricane Eta is fully past and WEATHER (or anything ELSE “extraneous”) isn’t a factor in affecting play. We are BETTER THAN THEM—and make no mistake: We UPGRADED at the quarterback position, for one thing!
RIGHT? Just settle down, go in “with edge and attitude”, and let our superior talent and current level of readiness and play take over, “do the talking” out there! Keep at it and we ought to eventually pull away.
I really don’t think I am overstating the matter—NOR our advantage, when it comes right down to it. As long as our coaching, our talent, and further growth and strengthening AS A TEAM continues as it has since the A&M loss and subsequent “break for Covid, etc”, we should be okay—BETTER than “okay”:
FINE.

I’m thinking this DOESN’T need (nor DESERVE) it’s own thread, so I’m picking it up here:
We gotta “stay the course”, ignore “the cold” at Neyland and “how hot” we are (especially on offense) according to the same “media experts” who (for the most part) at the same time AREN’T translating that into adequate credit to move us past the Aggies yet (the cowards wanna “hedge their bets”, let the ensuing schedule and ultimately the SEC Championship Game settle the question FOR them!)...Speaking of which, tonight’s latest “pronouncement from on high” from the CFB Playoff Committee isn’t likely to change ANYTHING from last week’s FIRST such ranking—at least not in the top six; probably not in the top TEN, doncha figure? I’m not saying they SHOULDN’T, just that they won’t.
There IS the “Played enough games?!!” question—particularly in OSU’s case, obviously. If they SHOULD in fact “grow a pair” and begin to shift things around already, it raises an interesting idea, one that has been whispered and muttered about the last week or so, now potentially about to be “RAISED” to “contrarian controversy”-level:
Goes like this:
“Of all the years where you might WANT to at least CONSIDER a change, just for this season, how about expanding the playoff to EIGHT games?”
It won’t happen—it would be seen too much like “opening the flood gates”—but it WILL be more insistently “discussed.
OK—here come the actual rankings on ESPN.
So. There ARE some changes at the bottom of the top 10...not any big deal, though, really.
Here we go at the very top...
Big surprise. Ohio State remains at #4, A&M at #5, UF still at #6–and these mealy-mouthed “experts” here on ESPN babble on about how “for Florida it’ll all be settled on the field” and how “awesome that is for Florida”...Yeah, right—“...and for y’all TOO, guys! You don’t have to actually show some honest ANALYSIS! Heaven forbid!
If Ohio State doesn’t play out and win, then is ineligible for their Conference’s Championship Game, well, as things stand (ie. with the current by-rule 4-team CFB Playoff set-up) they should be OUT, and the next highest “2nd SEC team” should be in in their place!
I happen to feel that in truth, if UF WAS to beat Alabama, and OSU disqualified basically “by rule”, then DEFINITELY the Tide (barring a complete collapse in the SEC Championship) still gets in—and the Aggies are still on the outside looking in. Another argument for that ongoing “expand the playoffs” discussion, you watch. Then there’s the whole “power five” thing (which I personally DO NOT subscribe to: They just don’t play a tough enough schedule, let’s face it...No WAY!).
Anyway, all in all, though I acknowledge how tough a road it is for us, fraught with detours, obstacles and potholes, and understand we can’t get ahead of ourselves, can’t even BEGIN to worry about all that now (Coach has got that totally right!), last thing I will say about ANY of it is, “I’d rather be us than any OTHER team currently not in that top four...maybe than OSU now too!
One more note then:
How in HELL can these nameless, faceless supposed “behind-scenes-experts” have the “percentage of likelihood of making it to the playoffs” higher for A&M at this point than for UF??! That’s how damn SURE they are that we will ultimately LOSE that SEC Championship, I suppose...but they have OSU’s chances higher than A&M’s! :
The ONLY way TAMU has an opening is if we lose AND Ohio St doesn’t play in and WIN the B1G game. They can’t have it both ways!
I know, I know—I’m already further down this twisted road than I ever meant to go here! Let’s just drop it and leave things back where we GATORS knew and accepted things to be already, coming INTO this foolishness:
Gotta keep getting better.
Just gotta WIN.
To hell with all the rest of the blah blah blah...

Maybe, maybe not however we can talk about the Gators' playoff chances on another thread (yes they need to win out) and if we think TAMU deserve the 4th spot over the suckeyes (in my opinion yes but I'm not a part of the committee). Also, the U has a better chance than TAMU though Clemson would need to lose to VA Tech and/or possibly the Noles if they make up that game.

I’m not saying I AGREE with putting OSU in there in this blank-check/“no matter WHAT”-stance they somehow have seemed to have taken (I mean, how CAN they equate 4 mostly-unimpressive wins against a 10-game all-SEC schedule, with one loss to a current Top SIX team? And obviously that plaintive question applies in BOTH ours AND A&M’s case!)
...but it IS the stark truth, as things really ARE at this point!
After everything, let’s face it:
We are STILL stuck with an “arbitrary beauty pageant” judged by somehow biased, faceless and questionably-qualified individuals no one I know recommended or had a say in choosing to MAKE that decision!
“Playoff” IS a “better way”, theoretically—but HOW we get there needs “tweaking” to say the LEAST!
In most years I think FOUR TEAMS should be enough.
“Contrversy at 4-5” isn’t necessarily a bad thing—keeps interest, competition at a fever pitch down the stretch, as it always HAS been...”Only the best”, and actual “Playoff” is relatively “short and sweet”!
I’m not a big fan of “upstart teams” from lesser conferences, playing inferior schedules against weaker competition, after all, getting in anyway. Let them be content and happy with national exposure in traditional Bowl Games on New Years’ Day (maybe time we got back to more of THAT, too: Set the “Football Final Four”, the CFB PLAYOFFS stand apart in the days FOLLOWING the “lazy pageantry” of New Years Day...).
To those who get to thinking, aspiring to MORE for their program, let them begin over time to schedule tougher, higher profile out-of-conference games. Play and win THOSE, year in/year out, and you MAY FIND YOURSELVES higher in the rankings and eventually IN these discussions “down the stretch”.
This is such a strange year, full of “exceptions” and uneven comparisons—either we stay within the rules, “play the ball as it lays” and accept the uneven, qualified results, or we set the dubious precedent of “making NEW rules to apply in an extreme new set of circumstances”! But then WHO DECIDES? And what exactly ARE the criteria? It’s a slippery slope—and risks a “giant asterisk”: NOT just on the season, but on the whole SYSTEM.
Do we really wanna GO THERE?
What do Y’ALL think?

Correction, the duo from SEC Shorts is split (one is an Auburn fan/alum and one from a Bama fan). As for the Playoff team, would we want Ohio State there or TAMU? Personally, I go with TAMU even though what's his face isn't there anymore and Jimbo is the A&M coach. However, would the committee want two SEC teams there along with two ACC teams there (unless Notre Dame wins again)?

For us, I’m actually HAPPY to report that it certainly LOOKS like our guys have EXACTLY the right attitude:
Instead of worrying about where they stand in the relative rankings, they are INDEED simply focusing on the next game, the next TEAM they play...
In this Saturday’s Tennessee game, of course, it sure SEEMS as if concentrating mainly on stopping their brilliant young RB, who nails down what was SUPPOSED to be a “dominant” running game behind a stellar O-LINE.
But it turns out “not so much”—what success they’ve had has COME on the ground, but has been mainly thanks to the talent and hard work of their #1 RB, Eric Gray.
I’m confident Grantham will have our D ready for him (and it SHOULDN’T require any further angry public displays from Mullens, either—we’ll likely be having a different discussion entirely post-game if it does!).
I’m personally hoping to see a bit of a “break out” game overall from Kyle Trask—a “RE-break out” if you like—We’d ALL like to see him slinging it around “early and often”, cold weather or no: Getting us out to an early lead and reminding the college football world how and why he roared to the front of the Heisman race to begin with!
Would WELCOME a “bit of a laugher” for a change; but mainly “Just go out and take care of business EARLY.
I’ll leave it to @Escambia94, to break it down, confirm or deny it, but my IMPRESSION is that when these games start EARLY, we DON’T appear to “wake up” til well into the game—a lot of times NOT TIL THE SECOND HALF!
But that ISN’T the case for later-starting games...In FACT, these mid-AFT starting games are more to our liking, it seems.
What about that, E-? Is that really “a trend”? And not just for us; I’m not sure, but I get the impression that a LOT of SEC teams have better results in games with mid-afternoon kick-off times.
There are those that have voiced concern that we would be better off THIS TIME with an earlier start, before the colder temperatures the teams will likely face (especially passing teams, like ourselves) as it gets dark later—but I’m not so sure. I’m thinking our collective “attitude” and “state-of-mind” is and will be a more important factor than that assumes.
Anyway, when all is said and done this won’t exactly be “the frozen tundra” by any means, even for “southern boys”.
In the final analysis, I like our chances.

(PS LOVE the latest uniforms brought out for this one...Especially the blue helmet with white-outlined script “Gators” on it...After complaining about all the “less-than-impressive new uniforms” they’d BEEN coming out with, since that complaint on my part I must admit that BOTH subsequent unveiling’s, both for road games, have bee WINNERS, I gotta admit.
The “ALL-WHITES” were so CLEAN, I REALLY liked THEM...and though these aren’t QUITE as “striking”, they are still sharp—MORE than “acceptable”, from my P.O.V.
For my part, OK with ME if they pull these out from time to time, GH it a big road game or whatever. The “ALL-WHITES”, on the other hand, are different, and stand out enough that I think they should be SPARING in their use: Pull them out for Championships or big rivalries ONLY, I think.)
