I don't know why the Gators do not line up in the I-formation more often. They seem to get good running yards that way.

Like to see Trask throw one more, from the “Heismann”-standpoint...The one good part of the missed FG is that it keeps open the idea of “keeping the scoring pressure on”. A fourth TD pass (to ANYONE) would fit nicely here, far as that goes.

Don’t you get the feeling he can throw one on “every remaining drive”, if they choose to do so?

Kentucky was eating up 3:30 to 7:30 per drive in the first half, but they are stalling at 1:55 per drive in the second half. That means the Gators need to get a stop and then give Trask 2:00 to toss a TD before sitting down.

Mostly “on cruise” now in 4th—mainly “bettors interest” now, but I’d like to see us finish a couple of these drives PROPERLY here in the 4th: We sure as HELL have spent enough time down in their end of the field this quarter!
To have so far come away with just 2 field goals out of 3 TRIES for all that effort is pretty underwhelming!
I’m MAINLY watching NOW to see us properly control play, drive and SCORE SIX here before the gun.

You know, those numbers just CONFIRM what “the Eye Test” told me “FELT WAS THE CASE” as the game went on.
NICE STEAL THERE! The Gator defender just TOOK IT AWAY from the WR there on their way to the ground!

Great throw by Kentucky QB Joey Gatewood, but a better interception by FR CB Trevez Johnson.

Trask still holds a record for consecutive 3-TD games. His stats are on par with Alabama QB Mac Jones' performance against Kentucky.

Gators cover the 23.5-point spread with a 24-point victory over the Kentucky Wildcats.

They probably can just run clock down now—but PERSONALLY, I’d STILL like to see him go after the one more TD pass here. But Jones is in there now—and looking very good, by the way.
I hope he has learned by watching Trask, and stays to see what he can do NEXT season—Mullens will no doubt open up the offense to suit his “dual threat” style and skill!
Game over on the two yard line of UK.
They played us tough—and we STILL “covered the spread”, by 1/2 a point!—but the question remains, “Can UF outscore The Crimson Tide? Can our Defense stop THEIR offense at ALL?”
and to THAT I say, “If the FIRST HALF GATOR D shows, probably not...But if it’s that SECOND HALF GATOR D, WHO KNOWS??!”
The SECOND HALF OF THIS ONE showed what a balanced and composed FULLY FUNCTIONING Gator TEAM might be capable of—AGAINST ANYONE!!!

With a win today, Dan Mullen passed Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer for the best 34-game start by a Gator head coach.
Forgot about that...and by-the-way:
Neither Trask, Mullens or anyone ELSE on OUR side seems to worry or CARE about those “personal rewards” , when all is said and done—they are CLEARLY more motivated by TEAM GOALS and ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

...which leaves the more immediate and IMPORTANT questions about how we are PROGRESSING and how good we can (and WILL) BE, on a game-by-game BASIS as we APPROACH the final few games here in the regular season—and BEYOND!

All in all, another bit of a “Ho-HUM Game” for the WHOLE TEAM:
Offense was “up’n’down” the whole game, MORE so especially in the FIRST half, but still some “choppy” play in the SECOND too! DEFENSE MORE mostly a contrast BETWEEN the two halves (for the most part MUCH stronger and more steady and reliable in the second), and even our Special Teams showed inconsistency in the course of play , start to finish.
It will take pretty damn close to a full, efficient effort from all three units, beginning to end, kick off to final gun, if we are to beat Bama then go on to sweep the play-offs!
We ALL see THAT, right?
Me, I’ve got a few things to check out IMMEDIATELY here...
(1) Check my Guiness-in-the-“Chilling Keg”, and
(2) Find a feed/streaming record of the Mullens post-game presser, and
(3) Find out his answer to the inevitable question, “What were you and Todd arguing about on the sidelines early in the 2nd half?!!” (I THINK that’s when it was...I’ll go back now and find it, check on that; of course, whether we’ll get an actual “honest and frank answer is another q entirely—but we can try...then see if my friend “the expert lip-reader” can get a good enough angle to figure it out ourselves—will pass on whatever we can divine!).

OK—so YOU don’t think this one hurt Kyle’s chances EITHER. I certainly didn’t think it SHOULD!

I’ve left it on ESPN here, where MSU is giving Northwestern all it wants and MORE so far...
Don’t know WHERE to switch over to NOW though, anyway...Any suggestions?

( @Escambia94, @Leakfan12, )
I went back and checked exactly WHEN that “earful” Coach Mullens gave Coach Grantham occurred: It was late in the FIRST half, of course...and (incidentally, and no doubt “coincidentally”) was pretty well EXACTLY BEFORE the defense AND offense BOTH more or less AWAKENED out there today!
You’ve all no doubt heard/seen witnessed Coach’s somewhat “cleverly humorous” way of dealing with the inevitable questions post-game, of “letting it roll off” his back using HUMOR to minimize its real “long TERM importance”...and it was the right way of doing so. “Like family fighting at the holiday get-together” is how one wag put it. We can only hope that Grantham is likewise able to let it go; certainly the PLAYERS will see it that way, hoping-against-hope it “ain’t no big deal”—I mean, it WAS on National TV after all!
And it GOT FIXED, after all, too. Either “the fix” HOLDS, at some point, or a more “permanent and effective” one WILL have ultimately be found (mayBE “bring in Charlie Jones in SOME capacity”, as SOME—more and more—are whispering/suggesting?).
For now, though, the TEAM we saw smoothly operating, ALL THREE SQUADS (offense, defense and special teams) in the SECOND HALF, IS one that looked a proper matchup with Alabama and the handful of “accepted elite” teams we’d likely face in any Championship Playoff run...So maybe, just maybe the “signs of our salvation” WERE INDEED ON DISPLAY there for all (even we Gator fans) to see there in the end.
Guess we’ll all have to wait, see and judge—by the RESULTS!
Whatta ya THINK??!
