I just watched a YouTube piece focusing on our “Top 5 Recruits”, and the main thing that generally strikes me in immediate response is simply the gut-level, “no-matter-WHAT-you’ve-heard-LATELY” idea of what a loss, what a “missed opportunity” ANY missed season would be for ANY player or program—especially a major one, especially ESPECIALLY I sense in the case of this year’s Gator Team:
This was, IS a crucial “TRANSITIONAL YEAR” for our program in its steady, gathering drive towards greatness under Dan Mullen.
Realistically, I DO understand the warnings from among certain media commentators, including ones whom I respect, that, given the SEC-GAME’S intensely physical level-of-play ON the field, and the huge, closely packed CROWDS IN THE STANDS, it is HARD to envision how ANY real “safety in social isolation” is possible in EITHER case...I just wonder how that will be “acceptably addressed”...
No use fooling ourselves: There’ll HAVE to be at the very LEAST a frank practical discussion about what the absolute MINIMUM THINGS fans attending can do to maximize THEIR “safety”, AND of course the “acceptable risks” that will have to be prepared for, as possible, and accepted BEYOND that, in order for it all to proceed (as indeed they are proposing right now...).
I’m for it—I think we all NEED it, more than EVER, even WITH a certain level of (acknowledged open, public) “risk”.
How do Y’ALL feel?
