What strange luck, or alchemy, would bring us Kyle Trask now, in our hour of total need and seemingly “out of the blue”?!!
What your “tracker” does in particular for ME, E—, is bring home and NAIL DOWN the absurdity inherent right down the line here:
All those seasons searching for someone, ANYONE who could take advantage of the disparate talents undeniably present on every Gator squad post Meyer—someone, ANYONE who could take those disparate elements and DO something with them...all the promising hits’n’misses, some having since even caught on with pro teams but whom somehow couldn’t make enough of an impression on a parade of Gator Coaches who, for whatever reason(s), repeatedly whiffed...
Then, we are finally, limpingly “making do” with a talented if inconsistent (and something of a seeming “part-time head case”) in Filiepe Franks—only to see him go down savagely in a season-ending (possibly career-threatening) injury in the season’s 2nd game, and up from the no-zone depth chart surfaces career backup-to-backups, Kyle Trask—who turns out to be everything we needed and to have, waiting in hand and a little kit bag of hidden mojo, the keys to all that seemed to have been MISSING all those years.
It is a story so strange and mystical that I dare not over-analyze it: I suggest all Gator Fans do what I have endeavored to do...Do NOT try to understand it, or somehow fit it into some larger picture of karma and/or life in the SEC.
No, this is one you just shake your head at, accept for what it is and just settle back and try to enjoy the ride.
Kyle Trask will NOT be invited to NYC for the Heismann Ceremony. But he just MIGHT find himself hoisting a different trophy, the winner in a more exalted fight, from the POV of Gator Fans. Still long odds away—but this is a “long odds story” TO THE MAX ALREADY!!!
Who’s to say where it ends. No matter what, you get the feeling NONE of it has, is, or will phaze young Mr. Trask, who just keeps sliding along, all of Gator Nation comfortably esconsed on his broad, good-nature’d shoulders!
