Sitting here watching a rapid-fire cut replay of the 2007 Tennessee game in the Swamp showimg on YouTube...
Sigh. Don't recall exactly how this one turned out at the end (everything working for stretches, then sudden breakdowns letting the Vols back in it), but it WAS Tebow's Heisman year, and loaded as those early Meyer teams were with playmakers all over the field, gotta feel this was ("will be") a Gator win...
But the main thing that repeatedly strikes me is the utter confidence one feels/has in that offense when Tebow is running it. Geez, the young man really did spoil us. Yes, he does have people and places to go with the ball, Percy Harvin, Brandon James et al...but it is just so damn satisfying watching TT happily running this MACHINE.
BY now (in the time it took to write this piece--I told y'all it was "rapid fire cut") it is late in the 4th quarter, the Gators are up 52-20, and now Cam Newton comes in to run things--and gives us a nice peak at "what MIGHT have been" by "doin' a Tebow" all around in driving the 2nd team offense to ANOTHER score.
(By the way: NEXT up is that same season's FSU game...For some reason I more clearly recall this one--that we win it as #15 pretty well clinches his Heisman in this "sandwich year" between the two Meyer Nat'l Championship teams...Above all, I'll watch it just to enjoy more of TT: Running, throwing, just his overwhelming PRESENCE out there.
We will not see his like again.)

By the way: YouTube has apparently (finally!) RE-added something pretty close to its original style of offerings for obsessive sports junkies in particular:
It popped up on my Prime streaming-site the other day, a "new" "available app" there on my Prime "Home" page--an old-style "YouTube" icon labeled "ready for download": I clicked on it and indeed downloaded it, followed through immediately to use my phone to activate it on my "device" (5th gen Firestick, through which I stream multiple-source programming on my flat screen TV...))
And IMMEDIATELY found I had loaded, recommended and WAITING for me a whole lineup of games and highlights from events old and recent, the theme and subject matter of which are/were sharply targeted at my tastes, interests and viewing history.
As you can see above, I have already gotten quickly caught up in "CATCHING UP": Had to cut myself off for the moment after the 2007 FSU game, but wanted to take these few moments the next morning to alert y'all to this offering (though I may in fact be "the last to know", who KNOWS???): As August approaches, this and "ESPN +" and the like may or may NOT be something you wanna have access to--but for me at least the timing of its availability could not have been more welcome.
Now, it is all I can do already to avoid being another dufus with his or her nose buried in huddled consultation with their "smartphones" (more and more, their "DUMBASS phones")--so far, I am determined NOT to even CHECK on or monitor what is being noted and/or recommended for later, not until I get home later with time on my hands. THAT part is up to each and every one of US, as always. But I'd be lying if I didn't admit I'm looking FORWARD to that content later, whatever it turns out to be.

This team hasn't had a reliable quarterback since Tebow. Also, we were spoiled with Wuerffuel, Grossman, and Leak.

This is absolutely true! Looking back, even the "bad" quarterbacks under Spurrier, Zook, and Meyer were better than the best under Muschamp and McDeathThreats. Generally speaking the Gator Standard for Quarterbacks is a passer rating higher than 145 (170 in championship seasons), which is a standard met only by Treon Harris (yeah...that surprised me as well), Will Grier, and Feleipe Franks. Franks' 2018 passer rating was better than Chris Leaks' ratings in 2003 and 2005, and was on par with those ratings in 2004 and 2006. Here are the numbers:
