Colin Cowherd was his normal whining self again today, as usual giving all the credit for Tebow's success to his "good fortune to happen to be meeting lousy teams throughout this whole stretch, and having a good defense playing out of its MIND..."--in other words it had NOTHING to do with HIM...but, according to Colin, "If he loses to Brady on Sunday, as I'm certain he will, that'll mean he's been beaten by the only two decent quarterbacks he's faced..."
"...loses to Brady", "...beaten by quarterbacks...he's faced"--you can't have it BOTH ways: no part in the wins but completely responsible for the losses. Anyway, NEITHER QB plays a down on defense, so how can "Tebow lose to Brady", and so on, at least in the direct sense that he's talking about?
This kind of clumsy, nakedly biased grandstanding has grown thin, has finally begun to embarrass even some of the colleagues of Cowherd, Hoge, and the rest of the apologists for Elway and the old-guard; there are cracks showing around the edges of the once near-monolithic anti-Tebow rhetoric--some are beginning to argue on his behalf, give him credit and support, even on ESPN.

Funny how the double standard works. If the Broncos win, it was not because Tebow beat the other quarterback, but if another team beats the Broncos it will be that quarterback beating Tebow. Look around. In the pre-season, only Woody Paige and Skip Bayless supported Tebow. Steve Young had an open mind about him. Today, even Merrill Hoge now has an open mind about Tebow. Stephen A. Smith accidentally says nice things about Tebow. Timmy has converted a lot of detractors either to the "supporter camp" or the "open mind camp". Only Cowlin Cow-turd and a few others will stubbornly attack every little thing about Tebow, win or lose. If the Broncos win this weekend, it will be because the defense won the game. If the Broncos lose, it will be because Tom Brady beat our savior. If the Bills win the week after, it will be that Ryan Fitzpatrick beat our savior and he was just a fluke, but if he wins he will not get the credit. Heaven forbid if the Kansas City Chiefs pull out a win with Kyle Orton at the helm. Everyone will forget that going 8-1 is pretty good for this team. Face it, this offense sucks, yet they manage to over-perform. Tebow's completion rate is about 47%, but if he had the receivers that New England had, that rate would be closer to 60%. If Tebow had New England's receivers, the kind that can get open, Tebow would be able to throw for more yards. Alas, Tebow has Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas. Who? Those two will never be stars on other teams, but they are good enough for the Broncos and some Mile High Magic.

All the DROPS! He'd have at least a 1/2 dozen more TDs and a 10 pt. better completion rate just on those guys actually CATCHING a majority of those long ones through their hands. Then there's the fact that they don't always run out their routes if they aren't the "hot" receiver, and if they'd come back to him EVERY time he scrambles in the pocket, there'd be more successful "broken plays", one of the "not-found-in-the-statistics"-hidden advantages of having a mobile quarterback in the first place. The REALLY unique thing about TT, though, is how little that seems to phase him--and how he doesn't LET it bother the rest of the team, either--not even the guy who DROPPED it. The only other QB in the League who can so quickly recover, move on and succeed shortly thereafter to the same degree right now is Eli Manning--another "under-rated" QB, but not even close to the degree that Tebow is maligned. (Different story altogether, anyway--but part of a general pattern here: the only quarterbacks to whom Tebow can be compared these days in specific ways are undeniably first-rate, elite ones.)

One was ruled incomplete and review but the call stand though it was a touchdown in the Lions game. The refs sucked that game.

Sorry man...bad day for TT AND Bronco-team in general. After last week "broke the spell", this week they ALL had feet-of-clay. I'm afraid this is the true Bronco team: BELOW mediocre. If Tim is to turn this around and make it a "special season" for this frankly patchwork squad whose own management doesn't believe in them, he really WILL have to lift 'em up and carry them on his shoulders, at least in the early going, until they "catch on, catch fire, and catch lightening-in-a-bottle", one more time--and together beat a Chiefs team that isn't anymore a "consistent powerhouse" than they OR the Raiders. NONE of these AFC West teams has "grabbed the brass ring": it's still waiting there for one of them, and TT's Broncos retain the inside track. Ironically enough, all THEY have to do next week is "just win, baby"...

Yeah that game was bad especially for Tebow, four ints against of all teams the Bills. Well he better rebound or hope the Raiders lose for them making it to the playoffs.

Yeah, he was due for one of those, let's face it...we saw it when he with the Gators, too: once the balloon burst, even the "Tebow-magic" seemed to evaporate. Remember the SEC-Championship game?
I'm convinced that the kind of roll they were on really IS as much about "faith" as anything--not religious, but rather what leader and team give to EACH OTHER. Now he has a huge task ahead of him: to rekindle that fire in the only way it can be done--to put that team on his broad shoulders and make them believe in him and themselves again. Otherwise, even if they DO get in they won't go far, let's face it. This is a mediocre Bronco team, at best, who was doing it on chemistry and "magic" alone--and those were and are directly plugged into their QB, in both cases.
I don't know if he can or will pull it off. All I know is that Tim Tebow, of all the players I have ever seen play this game, is CAPABLE of doing it. With all the Haters lined up to say "I told you so", it is building up to be one of those classic, impossibly perfect set-ups for "Tebow-time".

I don't blame Tim for that 2009 SEC Championship game though I'm sure he would said he could have played better. Well He needs to shake that Buffalo loss because KC coming with Kyle Orton and he's looking for revenge.

I guess everyone has a short memory on the 2009 SEC Championship game. Timmy had a great day on offense, but his magic only goes so far. His team mates were later found to have been saving themselves for the NFL draft. Some players saw Brandon James go down in the 2nd and used that as a demotivator. Who cares about some silly college game when there are millions of dollars awaiting, pending a good NFL draft pick...other than Tebow and players who needed that college game to vault their NFL stock. Timmy could not win the game himself, with some players who had already "checked out".

Fast forward to last week. Timmy is not perfect. He said himself that he tried too hard to win the game himself. It is all in Timmy's head. When it is Tebow Time, his passer rating is over 100 and his Total QBR only lags Rodgers, Brees, and Brady. When he has to think, he...sucks. There. I said it. His coach needs to get him to stop over thinking, just as Mike Shula has done for Cam Newton in Carolina. Honestly, Newton has shown why he was a clear number one pick, and Tebow has shown why he was an iffy first round pick, but Newton has better coaching and support, plus the freedom to not over think and just work the magic.

Against the Patriots, Timmy stopped being Timmy. He was trying to be Tom Brady...against Tom Brady...without any decent receivers and in a porous pocket. He did not help his cause by holding the ball, and then forcing the ball. There is no Tebow Magic if he is not allowed to be himself. Next year he can try to be Brady as long as he gets a couple receivers, a tight end, and a license to sometimes be Timmy.

Also Dunass (Dunlap) got a DUI before that 2009 SEC title game which didn't help as well. It was sad that some players turned it off when you are one win away from winning a spot in the National Championship. They could have been one of the greatest dynasties in College Football. Willis McGahee tore his leg back in 2002 title game and he came back in 2004 to rush for over 1,000 yards and still playing in the league with Tim Tebow. Then again, I sure Bama play to win remembering what happened the year before. OK back on the subject, Tebow is 2nd alternative for the Pro Bowl which I'm sure is the closest that a Gator QB has been to the Pro Bowl and honestly he has a good chance of being in the game (Big Ben is hurt and Brady could play in the Super Bowl though I don't like the Pats). As for the Chiefs game, Tebow needs to play his game and if possible relax.

Timmy looked best as a passer in two plays, one as he was rolling out to his left, and one that was just a great throw from the pocket. I guess the script should be to get him warmed up with lots of old Gator plays, and then when he feels comfortable he can do those "normal NFL passes".

its gonna get ugly against that steeler defense if he has a couple more games next yr like he closed out this yr and his pro QB career could be real short

The Broncos are making a mistake trying to force him to be a pocket passer when the defenses are expecting it. Let him mix in some zone read, option, or roll out plays in obvious pocket passing situations. That is what Carolina does for Cam Newton, and that is what Atlanta did for Michael Vick back in the day. This is not rocket science.

He'll at least get one more year, he'll have a training camp next season which should help him at least a little bit for next season. Plus he'll train in the offseason as well.

And maybe - just maybe - the Henceforth Unnameable GM of the Broncos will try to sign an actual receiving corps, as opposed to trading away the best talent they had for footballs and sweat towels.
