ya everybody is a fan when teams r winning....in 2 years when ur rebuilding we wont here from this guy. bama bandwagons.

Bama is notorious for "red dirt alumni", the fair weather fans that make the Bryant-Denny expansion look great in good years, but foolish in off years. For the next few years one of two things will happen: Bama's run will end and the red dirt alumni will give way to the true fans, or Meyer will get pwned repeatedly by Saban and things will change but the Swamp will still be nearly full (assuming we did not gain too many fair weather fans under Tebow).

How old are you? 12? Bama won no doubt, but your sophmoric post does your fan base no favors

This is common for Bama fans. Have you heard of the term "Red Dirt Alumni"? Since a large chunk of the Alabama fanbase never went to school at Bama or even a juco that feeds Alabama, there is a preponderance of these fans. Miami is worse, since it is too expensive to be a fair weather fan (note the empty stadium during down years). It's a little more affordable to be a fair weather fan of Alabama. In either case, they are both annoying.

This is why I only care about the SEC championship for Florida. In down years, the fair weather fans that make us all look bad tend to stay quiet. After an SEC championship or great SEC championship run, we have a few fair weather fans sprinkled in but they are not that annoying. After a national championship we get the immature fair weather fans that make us all look bad. It's more fun as a fan when we "only" win the SEC. I honestly don't care for the beauty pageant that is the BCS championship (weird, I know).

Exactly. I'm also referring to the world outside this forum. The best example is Facebook. Me and my fellow UF grads got fed up with the Bama taunting and demanded people post their graduation date from the University of Alabama or name five Bama all-stars without using Google.

But people can be fans of a team even though their not from there. I've been born and raised in Kentucky all my life but since age four have been part of Gator nation.

As long as you can show that you bleed orange and blue in all kinds of weather. That is why I let there be an either/or--graduated or can name five key players. The five names you throw out say a lot about your love of the team. I'm in my thirties, as are most of my facebook friends. If someone responds to my challenge with only 2009/2010 players and they are thirty, I assume bandwagon/ fair weather. Throw out players from the 1980s and you get my respect. Now, if you're younger you get a bye. Then again, my only facebook friends under 30 are teenage friends of my teenage daughter, and we live in Texas--no fellow Gators out here.

I don't try to prove my loyalty I know I've been a gator fan since age four.I'm 26 and remember before Danny was the man and our ol orange Jerseys and when I thought Jack Jackson was the greatest football player alive.

Fair enough. Not that I was challenging you specifically. You are right, you do not have to prove anything to anybody--that is, you do not need to prove anything to anybody unless you are talking smack in public or on Facebook.

You can look at my avatar and see how back my fanbase goes. My avatar/pic is actually Emmitt while he was at Escambia High School. You mentioned Danny. Danny Wuerrfel lit up my high school to the tune of 62-7 or something like that back in the 1990s. I think he personally burned my best friend on two successive slant routes by jamming that ball into the tightest space I had ever seen a high school quarterback throw a ball. I also remember the Peace Corps--Wayne Peace's dink-and-dunk wide receivers.

Most of my associates on Facebook could not even name more than two players on the current team. Yet they spam everyone's Facebook wall and run around their single-wide trailers screaming about the butt whooping they laid on the Gators. **** that pisses me off.

If I were to awaken from a long term coma and needed to get a quick overview of who was winning among UF, FSU, and Miami, I would head to Walmart and analyze the ratio of gear available among the three schools.

Unless the military sends you miles from home and if there is a Walmart it's all Texas, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma.
