South Carolina beats the Gators

As soon as the Gatoprs get ranked in the top 25, they go ahead and blow it.

Zam Fredrick's layup as time expired lifted the Gamecocks to a 70-69 victory Wednesday, ending the Gators' 10-game win streak.


After Chandler Parsons missed a free throw with 3.3 seconds left, Fredrick took Mike Holmes' pass in stride and scored the winner just before the buzzer sounded. Fredrick had missed what would have been a tying free throw with 4.7 seconds left.


The Gators are now 16-3, 3-1 SEC

It was disappointing and frustrating to watch.
We need to protect the ball more.
We had almost twice as many turnovers. 18 - 10
Erving Walker committed 5 of the 18.
They were momentum killers, in a fast paced game.
They only shot 39% from the floor while we shot 54%,
and we aren't going to win many shooting 60% from the free throw line.
Calathes and Parsons both missed free throws in the waning seconds when we still had the lead.
Wel, it's still early.

We lost that game in the last seconds. Instead of letting South Carolina commit a foul, Calathes should have used his noggin and dribbled out to save the win keeping an eye on the shot clock - that, or Billy should have used his last timeout and thought along those same lines.

Agreed turnovers are killing us; I can cut Walker a little slack because he's only a freshman, but Werner needs to clean up his act. When he's on his game he's a key player; when he's bad he stinks up the joint. There's no need for him to be as sloppy as he can be at times.

Why the HELL isn't Larry Shyatt working with our players in defense as effectively as he should be? We have poor protection underneath; we're last in the SEC in rebounding. That's unacceptable.

Everybody else on the team needs to start stepping up and start playing their game; Calathes can't carry this whole team. Walter Hodge is a SENIOR, for crying out loud. He needs to be doing a LOT more out there than he is right now.

OK, enough of my rant. This was an avoidable loss.

This team can't handle the spotlight.

We were at the Game last night It was a HEARTBREAKER !!!! IN fact our seats were right under the hoop that the winning basket went in... we hated the walk up the stairs to the exit. the gamecock fans for the most part were well behaved ( though it did get loud after the buzzer!!!) also this was the first Basketball game I have been to and it was great other than the outcome.. There was alot of orange & blue in the house.

ok first of all south carolina is the bomb at b-ball because they came so close to beating clemson who is like the best team in the whole NCAA at basketball so florida really had no chance at beating USC
