Having not read the book (and frankly not planning to) I will refrain from any direct comment regarding the news surrounding a just-released book about him from an Elway syncophant/apologist in which The Man With The Ego As Big As The Rockies makes excuses as he blames and generally trashes Tim Tebow for that otherwise disastrous first season (right up until TT took over, righted the ship and got them into and through tge first round of the playoffs!) as GM in Denver.
I will only explain the title above: In journalism, there is an old saw that “Dog Bites Man” isn’t “NEWS”; “Man Bites Dog” IS!...
So, by extension, neither is “Elway Trashes Tebow”!!!
I mean, he forbade Tebow being played despite the ongoing debacle of a season, had to endure MONTHS of ensuing success when his Coach (Josh McDaniels), figuring his days numbered, the fans HOLLERING for him to put in the kid he himself had insisted on drafting in the first round (and to a certain extent auditioning for his NEXT job, let’s face it), was of course HIMSELF promptly fired when they finally lost a playoff game—practically the same day Big-Ego-John cut TT too, BTW...
It is well known to ANYONE who has had to work with, near or (worst of all) FOR the guy: The one thing you cannot be, the one thing he cannot handle, is to draw more attention or admiration than “me-me-ME!John!!!”
Who knows? I’ve met several of my “heroes” in the course of my life; I don’t know if it was “a bad day” or “feet of clay”, but they haven’t always been satisfying moments that confirmed my former impressions after all! But who am I to judge? Life goes on, none of us are perfect, and I had at BEST the smallest, shortest of snapshot momentary insights into their lives. Far be it from me to make blanket judgements of ANYONE based on so little information!
I’d certainly like to think that under NO circumstances would I have a professional writer ghost a hatchet-job on someone just because (1) I didn’t like them, and (2) I had the power and inclination to do so.
Small, petty after ALL, “LITTLE John”.

I would not say it is a hatchet job, but it is definitely written to rile up a large fanbase and anti-fanbase. Josh McDaniels drafted Tim Tebow but did not have time to figure out how to use him. Now McDaniels is an OC for the Patriots and he has Cam Newton to work with--with the advantage of a decade of "college offenses" being incorporated into NFL offenses. I saw Cam Newton run a spread-option play out of the pistol formation as he did at Auburn, then a few plays later I saw him run a spread-option mesh concept straight out of his Florida playbook. Clearly Josh McDaniels has evolved his play-calling since he drafted Tim Tebow. Elway definitely was not receptive to the spread-option plays, so there was going to be some friction there.

If Tebow's coaches had adopted spread-option plays just as Cam Newton's and Lamar Jackson's coaches, things would have been different. Tim was the first "spread-option QB", and he was just a year or two ahead of his time. Just a couple years later it was becoming normalized with over half of the NFL teams incorporating several spread-option plays or concepts into their playbooks.

Oh, based on all I am aware of behind the scenes here, it IS a “hatchet job”, E-...BUT: I STILL resist getting drawn into that debate. I no longer allow myself to be sucked into ugly emotional factionalism if I can help it—not the way I once did.
(For example, I won’t discuss the current political landscape, despite strong impressions and my sense of honor and patriotism having been assaulted to the point of being RUBBED RAW these last few years: Instead, I am in strong and vocal favor of all adult Americans accepting their place on defense-of-our-Republic’s “FRONT LINES”, and that being manifest in our obligation to not only VOTE, but to make it COUNT: VOTE IN PERSON, no matter what it takes...Yes, there are risks; questions with mail-in ballots? Get yourself a decent mask and disposable gloves and WAIT IN LINE!)
As for Elway (and, as is hinted at in the various commentaries and reviews so far, his FAMILY’S supposed friction, antipathy and outright contempt for TT), I can assure you that in THAT context at least he AND they lead a group of Elway dependents, admirers, fans and supporters who have LONG DESPISED Tebow, and have made less and less effort to cover those feelings. Again, haven’t read the book, do not plan to—but have read enough excerpt and review to definitely get the impression that it marks the last of “the gloves” COMING OFF NOW.
But your points are all well-taken. It didn’t REQUIRE Elway’s huge ego OR deep jealousy and contempt for things to have in fact developed/evolved as they did; God knows there were enough OTHER factors and forces of history and situational dynamics at work along the way, at Denver AND the other places you mention, with the attitudes, histories and events interacting in and among all the personalities you note, in order to set up the very situations that you describe (and we all witnessed!), and eventually producing this book WITHOUT it necessarily being “a hatchet job”. It doesn’t really matter (certainly not to me) whether it is read or interpreted as such in the end.
(PS. Side Note: Don’t y’all wish EVERY “big star” had Peyton Manning’s self-deprecating sense of humor and self-effacing modesty?
Lesson there for ALL of us, IMHO...)

...One more thing:
Met Danny Weurfel in New Orleans a few years back (just in passing: a quick chance to shake his hand, wish him well as an admirer AND a “fellow Gator alum” whom he makes proud!), tangentially saw some of his and his peoples’ daily work there with and among the many ongoing good works performed in that community by, for and passed forward AMONG the many touched, directly and INdirectly, by their “Foundation”—and lemme tell you:
THERE’S a “Christian” LIVING his philosophy and ideals and HAVING AN IMPACT ON OTHERS, intentionally and positively impacting his community in a definite way...no “self-serving ego-clouds” obscures THAT individual or those he continues to touch and lead!
The life-long cynic in me has ALWAYS cast a somewhat “sidelong glance” at folks in the media spotlight who would seize every opportunity to make sure THE WORLD saw them “pointing at the sky” or “kneeling, head bowed in the middle of the field” after every Touchdown—Again: a bit too much of the “Me, me me—Look at ME!” inherent in those moments, it always struck ME!
“Time” and “Life” (and NOT the magazines! LOL) go on, and we get to see who these folks really ARE and what they actually DO with their lives, opportunities and resulting high profiles...I leave it to y’all and your OWN values, experiences and personal insights and wisdom to more deeply evaluate the impact and decency of our fellows out there as to what THEIR TRUE “values and intentions” are and the direction those are likely to continue to evolve...
In MY “humble view”, all that becomes more and more clear, easier to see and interpret by and for the rest of us as time does go on!
Nothing more really needs to be SAID about ANY of it. Agreed?

I'll give Elway this, yes he was a good quarterback. However, he was a jealousy B---H. He saw Tebow as a threat to his legacy. Elway removing Tebow was an ego stroke. However, Peyton Manning deserves some of the blame. Honestly, he could have gone to San Francisco who I believe had more weapons for him than any other team. Also, he could have gone to Nashville and play in the state where he played in college years. I wonder if New Orleans would have been an option if not for Drew Brees. Though I rooted for the Broncos for Manning last game mostly because he played against Cam Newton. Also, personally I don't care how you vote, just vote. If vote by mail cool (but seriously turn in your ballot at the Election Office and any of the early voting sites). If you want to Vote in person, vote in the early voting site to avoid the long lines (and a greater risk of COVID). If you're brave enough to vote on Election Day, wear a mask, Social Distance, and hand sanitizer.

Right ON, LF!
I agree with everything you say.
(It’s just that Peyton makes me laugh—I mean, it turns out the guy has IMPECCABLE “comic timing”!
And that in itself is worth a LOT in this world: In the long run—maybe even more than his demonstrated skills on the gridiron.)
But egads!
Elway IS an ego-ridden “B—-H”!

...One more thing worth adding, I think:
We are ALL on the “Front Lines” in defending our “Republic” this time, just BY “voting”: I personally resent all efforts to mess with that—no matter WHO is doing “the messing”!
I won’t use THIS time, place or platform to even BEGIN TO address any of that in detail, except to say that ANYONE who would try to gain advantage by doing so—whether it be foreign power or domestic politicos—in my view INSTANTLY identify themselves as our ENEMIES, and deserve the OPPOSITE of whatever advantage they seek in doing so in the FIRST PLACE!
(But the fact that “hate and fear” appear to be the main currencies in which they trade and communicate tells each of us all we need to know about them!)

I agree we need to vote and personally I don't care how you do it (In-person, mail, or Early In-Person) just vote (and stay safe).

Peyton seems like a likely guy (even for a Vol, I know I when there), more so than Elway.
