Will You Get To Watch the Sugar Bowl?

Do you have Time Warner Cable? If so, you may want make different Sugar Bowl viewing plans if you wanted to watch the game at home. The Sugar Bowl matchup tomorrow between the Florida Gators and Cincinnati Bearcats will air at 8:30 PM ET on Fox - that is unless you have Time Warner who is in a dispute with Fox and if unresolved it will threaten millions of cable-TV subscribers. The two sides can't agree on a new contract.

Chase Carey, News Corp.'s president and chief operating officer, said in a memo to employees Wednesday, "it looks like we will not reach an agreement and our channels may very well go off the air in Time Warner Cable systems at midnight [Dec. 31]."

Basically News Corp (who owns Fox) is seeking a new $1 monthly fee from each Time Warner Cable household. Time Warner is saying no, so now News Corp is threatening to take Fox off the air. That sucks hard core for Gator fans living in a Time Warner Cable zone - New York, LA and even cities close to Gainesville like Daytona.

It's a bad situation that we all hope gets resolved before kickoff. I can't imagine that they won't resolve this issue. If they can't, make some plans to go to a sports bar or friend's house - they should be able to pick it up on a dish.
