What to make of Riley Cooper

Mr2Bits

Gator Fan
Of all the players to stand out in the Charleston Southern game, I would say Riley Cooper made the best impression. In his freshman year I loved the way Riley played. He never seem to drop the ball. Then Cooper struggled with a few injuries and such and lost the spotlight to guys like Percy Harvin and Louis Murphy. Now in 2009 it's Coopers time to shine and by the look of it he's taking advantage of every opportunity.

In Florida's first game Riley had 5 receptions for 105 yards, including a 68 yard reception that set up the Gators first score. There's no hiding the onfield chemistry Cooper has with quarterback Tim Tebow... the two are roommates and great friends. With no real No. 1 wide receiver on the team right now, Cooper has the perfect opportunity to step in an lead this team in receptions.

The truth is, Riley Cooper almost left Florida after his junior year to pursue a professional baseball career. Cooper already has signed a reported $250,000 signing bonus to play for the Texas Rangers organization and could be in Class A right now. When asked about Cooper's return to Florida, Urban Meyer responded "Thank God he came back."

Riley Cooper has a chance to put up big numbers in this offense and could catch the attention of NFL scouts. There's no telling what will happen this season and what the future holds for Riley. Perhaps he can be a two sport star like Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders?
