Vernon Hargreaves III may only be a freshman with just six games under his belt, but the cornerback is creating an island of his own on Florida Field called “Hargreaves Island.”
CBS Sports released their mid-season All-American list today and Hargreaves was the lone Gator to be listed on the first team. Hargreaves has been arguably the best, most consistent player on Florida’s defense in 2013 and he gets better and more comfortable with each passing week.
Not only was Hargreaves the only Gator to be listed on the first team, but he was also the only freshman named to the list that was voted on by staff and writers at CBSSports.com
Through six games Hargreaves is leading the team in interceptions (3), has 16 tackles (12 solo) and five pass breakups. He was also moved into the starting Punt returner role on Florida’s depth chart leading up to the game against Missouri.
