Tebow 'a little rusty' upon return

It turns out Tim Tebow may not be completely superhuman after all. Offensive coordinator Dan Mullen admits his quarterback was "a little rusty" in his first practice after taking nearly a week off to tour the banquet circuit, picking up the Heisman, Maxwell and Davey O'Brien awards last week. But he isn't too concerned with the time off, saying that Tebow should be back to normal "in no time."

Tebow slid back into his job as the top quarterback after the role was occupied for the last week by backups Cameron Newton and John Brantley. Mullen said that the situation was good for the two freshmen, who got a chance to tug on Superman's cape for a few days.

"It's a great deal for them, because they get to walk on the field as the top guys," said Mullen. "It's a little different when Tim's out there and you know he's going to run the show. When he's not there, you know that everybody is looking to you. So it's really helped how they carry themselves at practice."

The extra reps also benefited the offensive linemen. Although neither backup went under center over the week, the linemen still got a chance to get acquainted with the mannerisms of each passer.

"They've gotten a lot of reps the last few days with Tim not being here, and with his hand," said senior center Drew Miller. "They're taking advantage of it. This is pretty much like spring ball to them with the extra reps."

He'll be ready for gametime. Tebow knows how to prepare for games. He's an extremely hard worker in the gym and even harder on the practuice field.
