Muschamp is out of the country right now on vacation with the family. Now is the time for the Gators to lock in the assistants they want to keep before Muschamp grabs them for his next gig.

For the most part, there isn't that much "overlap" between "who Muschamp will want/be going after" to take with him at whatever his next position will be, and who we'll still need and be after once McElwain comes in and fills the positions he already has earmarked for "his guys". Not many of that first slew of young coaches that came in with Meyer were at the top of the "A-list" for the top assistant jobs--but look at 'em now.
For MY part, I've got no problem with Muschamp (or anyone else) "raiding" our current staff of guys who "helped" him create and run those stumbling/bumbling/fumbling "Chinese fire drill" units we saw for whole stretches of so many games, on offense, defense AND (not-so)Special Teams. Sorry, but they were mostly notable for doing "so little with so MUCH"--pretty well the opposite of what you're generally looking for in coaches. (And anyway, it'd solve the very problem you raised elsewhere, E-, of having a number of those coaches on contracts that we'd otherwise be paying for multiple years to do nothing, should they be replaced here and not get or take other jobs...The program is prepared to absorb those costs, if necessary, to get the coaching team our new Head Coach wants and needs to "get the job done right", but having it BOTH ways would of course be even better...)
