The Florida Gators have eight athletes projected for selection in the NFL draft:
  • Jawaan Taylor, offensive tackle. The 6-foot-5, 312-pound lineman might be the only first-round pick for the Gators at this point. I would not be surprised to see him go to the Jacksonville Jaguars at #7.
  • Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, safety. The 5-foot-11, 210-pound safety is looking like a solid second-round pick out of Gainesville and is predicted to go late, maybe at No. 58 to the Cowboys or at No. 54 to the Texans (after a trade with Seattle).
  • Vosean Joseph, linebacker. The 6-foot-1, 230-pound linebacker is a little undersized, so he is projected to be a third- or fourth-round pick.
  • Jachai Polite, defensive end. The 6-foot-3, 258-pound lineman started off as a first round pick before his horrendous Combine and Pro Day outings. Now he is lucky if he gets picked up as a backup or special teams in the seventh round.
  • Martez Ivey, offensive guard. The 6-foot-5, 315 pound guard might get selected in the seventh round, but he is looking more like an undrafted free agent.
  • Fred Johnson, offensive guard. This 6-foot-7, 326-pounds lineman would be a good steak in round seven, but he will likely go as an undrafted free agent.
  • Jordan Scarlett, running back. Scarlett has decent size at 5-foot-11 and 208 pounds, and very good speed with his 4.47-second 40-yard dash at the 2019 NFL combine. Legal troubles will prevent him from being drafted, but he will do will as a an undrafted free agent.
  • CeCe Jefferson, defensive end. Jefferson will likely be an undrafted free agent.
Be sure to follow along with the 2019 NFL draft this week! Go Gators!

Well, that was disappointing. For the first time since 2012, the Gators had zero first round picks.

Taylor should have gotten the first round especially that the Texans picked a guy from Alabama State. NOT Alabama, Alabama State.

For the fifth-straight year, at least five Gators were selected. In addition, this is the 12th time since 2000 that the Gators reached that mark. Florida joins 18 other schools that had at least five guys selected in the 2019 NFL Draft. Jachai Polite was the 24th Florida defensive lineman selected in the NFL Draft over the past 20 years. That mark is tied with Florida State for the second-most in that span. UF trails only Alabama (26) and the Gators rank ahead of LSU (23), Clemson (23), Ohio State (20), Miami (19) and Tennessee (17). UF has had a DL selected in every draft this decade and Polite is the 12th picked during that span. That total ranks third in the nation and trails Alabama (18) and Clemson (14). With that, Ohio State (11), Michigan (10), Florida State (10), LSU (8), Oklahoma (8), Miami (8) and Penn State (8) all sit behind UF.

The Gators had multiple players selected in the first three rounds for the fifth-straight year. That is the longest streak since its streak of eight years from 1997-2004.
