Newton to get more playing time

Meyer said his offensive coaches, for the first time, have discussed giving freshman QB Cam Newton a more regular role in the offense.

"We're having that conversation, which is something we hadn't had earlier because he was injured and wasn't developed," Meyer said. "Now, he's really done a nice job."

A sprained ankle hurt Newton's development after some decent play during September's blowouts. He played two drives against Vanderbilt, including one where the Commodores returned an errant shotgun snap for a touchdown.

I wouldn't be surprised if Newton gets a whole quarter of playing time.

Newton is ahead of Brantley on the depth chart?
Man, I figured for sure Brantley was the future of UF football!?

I think they are just trying to make it 100% that Brantley will get his redshirt this year. No reason to play him, so maybe the comment that Newton is a head of Brantley is more to keep Brantley 2 years behind Tebow. Maybe not?

I don't care how long he plays. As long as Tebow throws for more than 250 yards.
