The University of Florida Gators (12-1) covered the spread against the previously No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday evening in the SEC Championship Game. The game was very close heading into the 4th quarter, but the Gators' speed and agility was too much for Alabama. The Gators put up 14 points in the 4th quarter to make it a final score of 31-20.

One of Urban Meyer's four keys to victory was winning the turnover battle. The Gators played mistake-free football, not turning the ball over once the entire game. The same couldn't be said of Alabama... John Parker Wilson threw an interception late in the game to help seal a Florida victory.

After watching the first half, I was scared... it was evident the Gators weren't quite the same without Percy Harvin. There were several plays that Brandon James filled in for Percy, but the results just weren't there. Had he played, the Gators could have scored 45+... he's that good.

Luckily though, the Gators still had their Heisman winning quarterback Tim Tebow. Not only did Tebow lead the Gators to three touchdowns, but he was solely responsible for motivating the entire team. Several times, the cameras panned in on Tim Tebow in the face of Brandon Spikes tyring to get him pumped up. Tim even ran down the field the give the Special Teams a talk before a big kickoff.

"I've had some great players, and I've got some great players on this team," Florida coach Urban Meyer said. "But I've never had one like this. Tim's got something special inside him. I'm not talking about throwing. I'm not talking about running. I'm talking about making everyone around him better. That fourth quarter was vintage Tim Tebow."

Tim was 14-22 for 216 yards and 3 touchdowns, plus he carried the ball 17 times for 57 yards. Demps was the leading rusher behind Tebow with 14 carries for 53 yards. Louis Murphy and Riley Cooper led the Gators in receiving, pulling in 86 and 56 yards respectively. The touchdown receptions came from Cooper, Moore and Nelson.

The Gators are now the 2008 SEC Champions and are headed to Miami for the BCS National Championship game against Oklahoma. The game is scheduled for January 8, 2009 at 8:00 PM EST.
