Florida’s disappointing 4-8 season plunged the Gators out of the top 25 (after starting the season at No. 10) and all the way to fourth in their own state behind FSU, Miami and UCF. But Florida’s program remains among the elite in college football (and No. 1 in the SEC and in the state) in terms of value.

In terms of valuation based on revenue, growth and and other factors, UF’s football program is No. 5 in the nation with a value of $660.8 million, according to a story in the Wall Street Journal.

The nation’s No. 1 program is Texas ($875.0 million). There are four other SEC teams in the top 10 — No. 7 Alabama (640.1), No. 8 Georgia (581.8), No. 9 Auburn (537.7) and No. 10 LSU (529.8).

Among Florida’s in-state rivals, national champion Florida State is 22nd (277.9) and Miami is 35th (180.8).
