Florida is ranked No. 9 in the final Associated Press Top 25 poll released after the National Championship game.

In the USA TODAY Coaches Poll the Gators come in at No. 10.

Since 1990, Florida has finished in the AP Top 25 final poll 21 of 23 years, including 14 times in the top 10, per the Gators official website.

Jenkins going pro

Jelani Jenkins has declared for the NFL draft, joining Jordan Reed, Sharriff Floyd and Matt Elam, as documented here.

Brissett and Johnson leaving

Jacoby Brissett will transfer from the program it was announced over the weekend, the move was somewhat expected as Driskel appears to be the guy until he graduates. The question is who becomes No.2, Tyler Murphy or Skyler Mornhinweg. Running back Chris Johnson, who was ejected from the Sugar Bowl and did not seem to fit into the Gators long range plan at running back will also transfer, it was announced by the school.

Easley staying for senior year

Defensive end Dominique Easley will return for his senior year, per his Twitter account and the Palm Beach Post. It will be some much needed senior leadership on that side of the ball with the departure of Floyd and Elam.

In total the losses to the NFL is not a horrible thing for a football program. Athletes select schools, in part, which consistently send players to the NFL and Florida has done that. So the tradition continues.

Post season surgery

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Jon Halapio (knee), right tackle Chaz Green (ankle) and outside linebacker Neiron Ball (ankle) each had arthoscopic surgery after the season but each are expected to be ready to go for spring practice.

Wow...not that it makes THAT much difference, but that is QUITE the drop based on one loss, in one game, after a 6 week lay-off waiting for an opponent who was PSYCHED to play us while we were in "let-down/"woulda-coulda-shoulda" mode, and never DID properly prepare--or (obviously, in retrospect) even show up to play until waking up to save some pride late--ALL of which every ONE of those voters could see for themselves, so what gives?
Rhetorical Q in the face of obvious answer: GATOR-HATERS EVERYWHERE, and that IS the OTHER point the younger guys remaining need to learn right now, along with the more immediate lessons about discipline, heart, motivation, preparation, pride, dedication and TEAM.
(Of course, one more "Note of the Obvious" to the Coaching staff, TOP DOWN: GET SOME RECEIVERS AND THEN GIVE US A GODDAMN OFFENSE!!! Just a thought.)
