Gator Fan
The Florida Gators men's basketball team stopped a 3-game losing streak last night with a 76-60 victory over American. The Gators were at home and played in front of a decent sized crowd at the O'Dome. The win probably won't move them back into the Top 25, but it sure puts them in the right direction with one game remaining in 2009.
Alex Tyus led the Gators in scoring with 20 points. Kenny Boynton added 19 and Vernon Macklin finished with a career high 18 points. The Gators played well in the low post on offense, but I would have liked to see them dominate the rebounds a little bit more. Tyus led the Gators in rebounding with 9. The rebounding issue might get fixed though once Kenny Kadji gets back in the lineup - he's been sidelined with a minor back injury.
The Gators shot well from the floor and three point line (40%), but they were down again on free throws - shooting only 63.6%
The Gators return to action on Wednesday night (Dec. 30) when the host Presbyterian at 7:00 p.m. The game will be televised live on CSS.
