Lol I would have been on but had to go pick up the babies. I watched it via dvr a bit ago. We looked good. As you know I'm born and raised and still live in the bluegrass state, so smack talking will begin tomorrow morning at church
BTW love seeing the vols getting beat.
Good week for YOU too, bro.
As for the Vols, well, they "came back" of course--quotes there 'cause VaTek HANDED it to'em, starting with that fumble at their own 5 that turned the momentum entirely, and followed by 4 more turnovers-- FIVE altogether to give that one away.
Look, Tennessee is BEATABLE, GATOR-beatable for sure--IF we limit penalties AND turnovers. Until then we benefit by being overlooked, ignored while we take care of business, keep doing what we been doing. Hell, we're finally back to a level where we're good enough to win games like these first 3 while we focus more on "working out the kinks" getting ready for what's beyond them. But yes, we ARE starting to show some good things...
That game week AFTER next is the first real "test", tho'--and potentially our "coming out party", a return to the national college football consciousness. THAT'S why we need to establish a habit of "doing things the right way" in these weeks leading up to it, against (supposed) "lesser opponents". Take care of business, sure--but even more than that, NOT fall back into the mistake of arrogance and off-handed disrespect--to the opponents OR ourselves, know what I mean? I really like the hard-working, hit-'em-hard-then-help-'em-up, then go back, line up and do it again all 60 minutes, that our Coach and his staff are developing in this Gator squad.
We'll have a better idea of how far we've come, and where we're headed, by the end of that one the weekend after next.
As for North Texas, while I've little doubt we'll win this one (though they are developing fast in relation to most squads in THEIR league, at the SEC-level I'd say that as a football school North Texas has great MUSIC and ARTS programs...great scene in Denton for all that too, makes it a cool town to go to school in). But this is more a "healthy pay day" FOR their program, and their students don't "live or die" with what happens to their team Fall Saturdays.
As we know all too well, it all changes when you start climbing into the upper reaches of The Mountain, begin to realize you can GET there...and once you've BEEN there, well, nothing else will ever quite do. At least I HOPE not: I hope we NEVER AGAIN settle for anything less than the struggle for and a real shot at the golden ring.
