Florida Hangs on Against Arkansas, 23-20

Even with a severe case of fumblitis, the Florida Gators managed to beat the Arkansas Razorbacks thanks to a Caleb Sturgis field goal with 9 seconds left. Arkansas took the following kickoff to the 41 yard line w/ time for one play. They tried a trick hook and ladder player but it didn't pan out. The Gators came off the field victorious for the 6th time in a row in 2009 and 16th time in a row dating back to 2008.

Gator quarterback Tim Tebow was once again the leading passer and leading rusher on the team. Tebow was 17-26 passing for 255 yards and 1 touchdown, he also rushed the ball a career-tying 27 times for 69 yards. I had predicted Tim would go over 300 yards passing and probably hit 4-5 touchdowns against Arkansas, but I guess I was way off. His only touchdown pass came on a huge 77-yard play to a wide open Deonte Thompson.

The team struggled as a whole again. They fumbled the ball 4 times and still couldn't punch it in for touchdowns. Caleb Sturgis had 3 field goals and 4 attempts on the day. That just hasn't been Gator football. Usually they can score touchdowns when down in the red zone. The team will have to improve on this if they want to compete for an SEC title and BCS Championship game birth.

The Gators other offensive touchdown came on a 10 yard Jeff Demps run in the 4th quarter. Demps had 9 carries total for 54 yards rushing, with a 20 long. His 6.0 ypc average on the day is way off his like 9.8 ypc average for the season. Moody and Rainey were both ineffective combining for 9 carries and 13 yards.

The Arkansas defense played extremely well. They were able to stop the run and defend the pass. The Razorbacks sacked Tebow 6 times and had 3 other tackles for a loss. They came to the Swamp fired up and it showed.

All-in-all it was a good win. The Gators are still undefeated and still the No. 1 team in the country. Here is a video of the game highlights if you missed it:
