Chris Rainey's Championship Ring stolen; Willie Bailey might de-commit-baseball tonight vs Vandy

Chris Rainey (3) of the Gators is returning this kick-off to near midfield during the Outback Bowl game between Penn State Nittany Lions and the Florida Gators at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL.

-Thieves took items from the home of Chris Rainey and Moses Jenkins early Sunday morning according to the Gainesville Sun. According to the report 10 pairs of shoes belonging to Rainey were stolen, along with a TV, a Playstation and Rainey's 2008 BCS National Championship Ring.

A like ring goes for about $600 on Ebay.

-Word is that 2012 commitment, defensive back Willie Bailey, is leaning towards switching to Florida State. Bailey previously de-commited from Miami to make a commitment to the Gators April 6, we'll keep you posted.

-Edward Aschoff of ESPN has ranked the Top 10 defensive Tackles in the SEC and two Gators make the list.

Coming in at No. 1 is Florida senior Jaye Howard. Writes Aschoff, "The athletic 300-plus-pounder is already a top NFL draft prospect at tackle...."

Sharrif Floyd is No. 8 on the list but he calls him Florida's most consistent defensive linemen last season.

-The Gators baseball team won its opening round game of the College World Series with an 8-4 win over Texas Saturday. They will play Vanderbilt tonight at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.

In four previous meetings this seasons the Gators have beaten the Commodores three times and have lost once.

Gators right-hander Karsten Whitson (8-0, 2.45 ERA) will face Vandy's Grayson Garvin (13-1, 2.36 ERA).

Whitson was actually drafted by the San Diego Padres ninth overall in the 2010, draft and opt-ed to say at Florida rather to take $2.1 million.

The loser of tonight's game will face the the winner of North Carolia-Texas in the losers bracket, the winner of tonight's game will then face the winner of that game on Friday night for right to play in the Championship series. For a complete bracket check out the NCAA's website.


-Gators center Patric Young made the USA Basketball U-19 National Team this weekend in Colorado Springs, CO. Scottie Wilbekin was at the training camp but was not selected for the team. Young will compete for Team USA at the 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship in Lativia June 30-July 10.

-The Orlando Sentinel reports that UF reported two secondary violations in football relating to an assistant coach having contact with a recruit during a no contact period last October. The violations were reported a week after Will Muschamp took over, but they occurred while Urban Meyer was still in office.
